I suggest doing web-searches on your own name, and using database services like ... well, now I'm not sure if I should say the name of the service ... etiquette and all.

Lexis-Nexis is one other example, they're a legal database. Databases like that exist for people's names too, sort of like 'Whitepages.com'.


It takes a bit of legal work to hide one's name if you are paying property taxes. Got to set up a trust type of organization.

The point of a policy is to have the employee follow it.

Officer discretion is the policy.

So in short, they can and do get away with anything they want with the qualified immunity defense in court.

Thus making the policy pointless, except in defense of the employee which in the case of the government is in a court of the employers making.
