Define "new". I've been using a BlueLab EC pen for almost 2 years now, and it is great. Get the cleaning kit and calibration solution.

I've used a truncheon, the same one, for five years. It looks a little worn but still works fine. I just use a dab of Cif cleaner once in a while as per their recommendations.

I have only just seen them I have got a ph pen now bluelab didn't realize they had been out so long but the uk are usually behind with things anyway

To be honest with you the pens are riddled with problems. If I'm honest bluelab in the u.k hadn't been the same for years now even the truncheons have problems now the only bits I hear nothing but good things about are the guardians and the twin meters but you'd expect it for the price

I'm on my 4th Bluelab ph pen. Northerngrafta unfortunately is correct. They work well enough, when they are working, but are not all that durable in my experience. The good news is that they do have a warranty which I have taken advantage of. Twice.

Bought one which my partner at the time broke. Not the pen's fault

Bought a 2nd one. After a month it wasn't reading accurately. Numbers were jumping all over the place. Got a replacement under the warranty. Within 2 months, the electronics started going haywire, turning on and off without doing anything, couldn't even get a reading. Using the warranty, again, got a replacement for the replacement.

So I'm now on my 4th. It does it's job, but my Hannah is in my opinion better... No led backlight, but it stays on longer, which is useful to me, and if the ph probe goes bad I can just order a replacement rather than having to get a whole new pen.

I have been a bluelab user for 8yrs..
Tried the ph pen last year, 2 of them were junk in 3months..
The replacement probes are junk as well.. last on avg 3months and i surely am carefull with them.

I hate to admit.. but i just ordered a new Milwaukee combo meter yesterday, i just cant stand the unreliability of bluelabs anymore.

Doneit, you can order replacement probes for the bluelab? The guy at my hydro store said you couldn't. Not that it matters much at this point. Would have been good to know tho.

I think they are great, thew truncheons are solid as hell and the pH pens if maintained properly are excellent- best waterproof pen going afaic.

Any unit that has a replaceable probe needs to be maintained very carefully, placed in storage solution after every use, not allowed to dry out, proper calibration each day, refilling probes with conductivity solution, conditioning the bulb etc, etc. I have a Corning meter with a Cole-Parmer replacement probe for the TC lab- and like any lab grade pH meter, you have to take good care of it.

I'd recommend this pen to any grower- just make sure to protect the bulb and recondition relatively regularly in CaCl, clean it once and month and it should last you a long while. They have a great warranty and your grow store should replace any problematic units.

I have used my combo meter for 6 yrs... Replaced the probe maybe once in the first 4 yrs.

I surely know how to take care of it..

The last 2 yrs i have gone threw 6 replacement probes, the newer replacements are fucken junk!

In the mean time, my back up 10yr old milwaukee has never failed me..

Ofcourse this is my opinion, take it as you wish

I bought two Guardians a year ago and have just had replacements sent to me under the 2 year guarantee due to the LCD screen digits blacking out and making them unreadable, I have only replaced a PH probe once but I have 4 spare ones just in case. I have been told the newer generation Guardians I have been sent do not suffer with the same problems as the older ones but time will tell. I personally when these eventually die will invest in the Nutradip Trimeter next time as have heard great things about them and a damn site cheaper than the Guardians.

I have a bluelab ph meter but the probe arrived dry the shop said it will be ok if i place it in water for 24 hours it lasted 2 months no i need too buy a new probe...Hey dank demon i had a tri meter cracking ph meter mine started giving out wrong readings even tho it was calibrating with ph 4 and 7...I contacted the hydro shop they said they checked it and gave me a new ph probe and ec probe and it still dosent work so i openend it up the microchip was burned out how could the shop miss this ?

It would seem that from all the posts above you can clearly see a pattern old bluelab good new bluelab unreliable ye they replace the stuff but I'd rather had reliability
