I would like to know everyones thoughts when using transport solvent in a closed loop system such as I lso or ethanol.I'm going to winterize will this work?

The process of using a transport solvent is old school passive closed loop technology, which is generally avoided because of the extra non-essentials extracted and subsequent loss of true essentials during alcohol winterization. It all boils down to what you want in your final solution.

Not to mention if using a recovery pump you will recover more alcohol during recovery and more water due to its Azeotropic properties, than with a passive system, which some still should be recovered as well

thank you for the quick response.my hope was to be able to put the alcohol in my reclaim chamber then reclaim all the butane then poor the alcohol essential oil solution into a jar put in the freezer then winterize.but if this is going to cause problems with the quality or I'm going to be reclaiming alcohol and water into my butane tank then this is a bad idea.

Y dont you vac down to -22hg w/ your recovery pump and then pour etoh in your pot? Would that not accomplish what you want. Are you not running a mk3+? U should b if your not!

Not sure what the mk3+ is.my recovery pump it is an appon.your ideal about bringing the vac down to - 22 then pouring the alcohol into the pot sounds like a good way to go.

looking forward to what you have to say red beard.one of the things I was trying to do was not have butane free in the air outside the system.

Im thinking he should learn the ropes a bit before you throw ssd @ him bro. He obviously isnt doing the proper diligence if he has no clue what your speaking of, or what I put him on to earlier. Brunt, go read some more my man. Seriously, you'll be safer. Everything you need to know has been played out on these forums. Read.

Some thoughts!

If you vacuum down any of the systems until the visible butane is gone, and then pour in warm ethanol, you can redissolve BHO into the alcohol and after filtration, go directly into 0F winterization, prior to filtering again to remove the waxes.

The residual butane will leave with the alcohol when you remove it, so is of no real concern.

Another way brothers and sisters are using, is to stop vacuuming while liquid still remains in the lower collection tank, and to super cool it before either venting it through a filter under vacuum, or pouring it off through a filter and boiling off the butane into the atmosphere.

If you extract with -50C butane, it won't extract the leaf waxes in the first place, so you can skip the dewax step.

For finishing up, I recommend a heated vacuum chamber, so you can keep the pool liquid and vacuum away the last of the solvents at lower temperature than at atmospheric pressure.
