Overproof Grain Alcohol extractions

Hey all,

Up till now I have only experimented with QWISO. Followed a lot of tips I read here in these forums and have so far had some pretty great results.

The only problem is when I use my QWISO to make chocolates - there is a taste of QWISO in the final product which is minor, but I would like to eliminate it.

I was hoping if I invested in some over-proof grain alcohol, that would help. I was wondering if anyone can confirm, do I just evap off all the grain alcohol also, same as QWISO (mild heat and a fan)?

I wasn't clear on this...most of the recipes involving grain alcohol appear to be tinctures...I really want to use this in edibles again - chocolates for me are a great delivery mechanism as I don't need much of an appetite to get them down.

Got seven oz's of trim and another oz of average bud I want to extract! Please help me ICMag!

For edibles, I like doing a long wash with isopropanol and purging with ethanol at the end. Just take the iso oil (LWISO?), dissolve it in everclear 190, and reevaporate. This will give you the best combination of yield and flavor.

You could do the extraction with ethanol if you wanted. A QWET extraction (soak the trim in ethanol for 1 to 2 minutes) would give you a nice tasting oil at the expense of yield. A longer ethanol extraction will give you a higher yield at the expense of taste.

Thanks very much for the replies! I didn't realize you could do the first with QWISO then do that result in the ethanol...sweet!

Thirsty, I have recently been experimenting with alcohol thc tinctures.
Found a method on another forum which works very well.

The process

Decarb 7 grams (1/4 oz) for 25 to 30 minutes in preheated 220 deg oven (grind first)

Put in jar in freezer for 24 hours, also put your 190+ proof in freezer

After 24 hour freeze pour in alcohol and cover with liquid about 1 inch above

Shake this for 15 minutes then put in freezer for 4 hours

after 4 hours shake for 15 minutes then strain with cheesecloth over mouth of jar.

Once strained put reefer back in freezer for 24 hours and do a second wash as above but will take less aclohol.

Strain again the mash the hell out of the leftovers in the cheesecloth to get the rest of the alcohol out.

Filter all that you got thru a coffee filter once or twice.

Now reduce the alcohol to 3 fluid ounces. I use a candle warmer to slowly reduce in my bathroom with exhaust fan on. When you get close you can just let it sit out for the rest of reduction.

Voila alcohol tincture, about 1/2 ml will do you maybe a little more if high tolerance. To try it out I just put some in very little oj and do a shot. Effects in 20 or so minutes.

The beauty of this is you can try it and see how much it takes to get high. Once you know this you can infuse the needed amount into oil, butter, honey, etc. for cooking. IE making 15 cookies and takes 1 ml for great buzz infuse 15 ml in your butter or oil. GL OG
