How dry do you dry trim?

Wet trimmer here. Wet vs dry trimming has nothing to do with the final smell and taste, it's about a proper flush, dry, and cure. I've always trimmed wet, and my bud always tastes fantastic with full smell and flavor.

I trim wet, and all my sugar-coated trimmings go directly into the freezer for making bubble hash.

cardboard box trimmer

cardboard box trimmer

a CA friend of mine told me to use a cardboard box for dry finish trimming.

after the cut, take off all fan leaves and hang the plant for 10 days in a 50%-60%RH, 71*F environment, in the dark with slow updraft moving air flow, no fans in the drying area but the room is exhausted into the attic 24/7.
after the 10 days, branches are trimmed off into a pile, each branch's buds are then trimmed into a cardboard box (im using a 12 pack can package, Budweiser, all seams sealed except top) 1/14-1/3 full, then shaken vigorously for 20-45 seconds and dumped onto a piece of screen that has 1/4" openings, 'trim falls thru nuggs go into brown paper bags, where they have stayed sometimes for months before use, skipping the bottle burping exercise. The buds can be 'shaken' a second time giving a much better looking nugget.. if that's what floats your boat. a little radicle and ghetto but effective.

EDIT: Oh, the trim is already dry. freeze it, screen it, boil it with butter/ghee or BHO it. what a great hobby.

im actually doing a SIDE BY SIDE.. starting today.. to find out.. because I read.. dry trim.. for a better smell FASTER.. so you don't need to cure them half as long to get that smell back.. then I also read something about starches and sugars and sap from the wet trim that causes a hay smell to become more overwhelming..

but.. I have a 4x4x6 spot.. that was used for pheno hunts.. that I transformed into a lil area this morning.. im going to dry 34 plants then trim.. and ill wet trim the remaining 6.. ill make sure to slowly dry the wet trim nugs to take just as long as the others.. and we shall see the difference.. ill post pics of each kind.. along with a report on how long it took for smell. taste.. white ash.. and a clean slow burn.. I will also give 3 people each kind wet vs dry.. and see which they personally like better.. I wont tell them the difference just that its a different way of drying and curing.. and they are complete pot snobs lol. and will say whats on there mind so I trust them with telling me the truth ..

im hoping to show that maybe there is something to a dry trim.. in the past ive noticed.. that wen I was trimming at harvest.. and then got around to the end of the plants that were starting to be dry.. the dry plants always stunk before jarring.. compared to the wet that the smell came out After Jarring.

I do it almost exactely like this except I leave the roots on. Keeps it as a plant for my count and not weight. I can have 72 plants and only 15 ounces to be compliant locally. My plants average 10-12 ounces each. By leaving the roots attaches I can have variety and still be legal.

I shut off the lights turn on a dehumidifier and AC and it takes about 9 days for me.
