What's new

yellow leaves

Greetings fellow patients/growers...i currently have 2 young seedlings (4 sets of leaves) growing in a 1square foot hydro box...lights I'm using 3CFL's, 60w 1600lumens each. I have them on an 18 / 6 cycle. I don't have pictures But the plants have yellow in the middle And get greener as they go outward. Any ideas, nute def., water?

New growth tends to be lighter, and first pic doesn't look too bad. 2nd pic is kinda droopy.

Need to know PH of your solution, nutes you are using and what strength.

I've been starting the pH at approximately 5.5 and I let it go up to about 6.5 Before bringing it back down. For nutes I'm using a quarter teaspoon per gallon of Moon Dust

Your PH range is good, it's good that you let it swing, as different nutes are best absorbed at differing PH ranges. I don't know anything about your particular nutrient line, but see no burnt tips so I don't think you are over fertilizing.

They don't look bad. If I were you, I'd adopt a wait and see attitude. Maintain your current PH range as that is a good range and what you want to be doing. You might add a teaspoon of epson salts to your rez, but it's not a deal breaker if you don't. Always err on the lower side with ferts. A bit more N might green that up, but as I'm not familiar with that product, I'm going to say to maintain what you got. If you see worse yellowing and your PH is within range, bump up your ferts a little. Just a little, and see what happens.

Like I said earlier, newer growth tends to be lighter, but it's strain dependent to a degree. Some strains are more prone to do that than others.

What type of hydro system are you running? Are you sure enough oxygen is getting to the roots? How do the roots look?

Not sure what the name of my hydro set up is...but I'm using a 6" waterstone in a one gallon res. seems to be fine, roots are just off white, no slime or anything as of now.
Thank you WelderDan for the helpful tips. ill look into the N level on my nute bag to see where I'm at regarding the light yellowish leaves. the strain is called Kush-it...came out of a bud from local dispensary. why epson salt?

epsom salt for magnesium,, that moon dust looks like it has a very wide range of additives and may be a bit much for a seedling. it looks like it already has cal mag added so you don't need epsom salts..

personally i would be tempted to get a simpler hydro fert to use for a little while until they're big and strong enough and able to get into all the stuff that's in that moondust.

  • Moon Dust is an All-In-One nutrient designed specifically for our Sunlight Sheds turn-key units.
  • Instead of purchasing over 10 different products, Moon Dust combines the best of several well tested plant additives and base nutrients for a well balanced start to finish formula.
  • Simple for beginners, but powerful enough to out grow nutrient programs the pros use.
  • Outstanding for all plant types.
  • Super concentrated, pH stabilized, and superior chelating (the way the plant foods interact with each other).
  • Includes beneficial additives such as Carbohydrates (similar to CarboLoad), Humic Acid (similar to Grandma Engy's), Silica Blast (similar to Barricade), Kelp Meal (similar to Iguana Juice), and other vitamin complexes (similar to Vita Boost Pro).
  • Includes over 18 Beneficial Funguses (similar to Piranha), 19 Beneficial Bacteria (similar to Tarantula), and 2 Trichoderma Species for outstanding symbiotic assistance for accelerated plant health.
  • Moon Dusts base fertilizer consists of 19-8-13, with a well balanced formula for growing from start to finish, instead of difficult to use grow and bloom formulas. It also includes added Calcium and Magnesium for extra strong cell walls, and higher insect tolerance.
