Managing Greenhouse Smells

Are there any effective ways of reducing the odor from a medical garden greenhouse?

Is it possible to achieve a degree of stealth without totally sealing the building?

I have read ideas involving ozone generators and/or fan-based exhaust techniques. But does ozone neutralize just the odor in the immediate area, or does having it nearby also permanently reduce the plants' odors? And does ozone even work?

I'd like to be able to put up a greenhouse in an area of my yard where I have ~150ft away from a fence/neighbor without causing them an odor nuisance.

Is this even remotely possible?

Aroma plants could work imo.

Daphane Ordora,Rosemary,Thyme,Lavender have a good strong fragrance. From what I read it is a good idea have 3x as many aroma plants than you do budding plants.

I suspect that would only work for something smaller. Plus, too much of those smells is another potential nuisance.

Im actually in the same boat as you right now, trying to conceal smells from neighbors, from my outdoor plants....

Ozone wont work in an open area. Wind will take it away before it masks ANY smells...

Using other plants, im not sure sure. You would need alot to combat a smell like pot..

What im thinking is closing my area almost completely up, and using a huge carbonfilter/fan combo. Or maybe multiple fans and filters?

In my experience.,.the best way has been to run fans/filters like krunch suggested. I simply got the largest of the CAN carbon filters set on end...put 12" inline exhaust fans on top..and let em rip. Multiples is preferred if controlling a larger space. The GH will have to be sealed for periods of time to scrub the air before purging. Good luck

in my GH i had a fan pulling the hotter air out of the top and clipped dryer sheets to the outlet so the air would be forced thru, change em everyday and your back yard will only smell like fresh laundry. If your going out there everyday anyways to check on the plants it shouldnt be a problem, plus they are cheap as hell to buy.

unless your greenhouse is fully sealed, i am of the opinion you are going to have a hard time maintaining stealth and are at the mercy of the wind. if its a fully sealed greenhosue, then treat it like a fully sealed indoor room - fans and canfilters....
but then you will have the added benefit of that familiar HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM....

how many plants are you planning on growing?
and how big are you wanting them to be?
i mean if youre gonna be doing the yogurt cup challenge outside you are too worried hahahaha. if you want big plants/trees.... well...

one or two plants in 5g pots shouldnt be to hard to keep under wraps if you have a highly fragrant garden already. but the wind is not your friend. your wind will do with the aroma what it wants.

you could grow some low odor pot. all the low odor pot i have smoked or grown sucks though. but thats just me... but that shit sucks.

all this insight comes from a dude who's prideful and happy his garden can be smelled a few blocks away under most conditions...

Unless it's fully sealed you will stink up a couple blocks when they start budding

Ive always thought of maybe buying 100 of those car scent things, those tree looking things and just line the whole inside of the G.H. I bet that might mask it somewhat? Or just try growing a bunch of lavender plants around it, thats what we are going for this season. I think you are pretty much in for the long haul when it comes down to the skunks, and cheese type phenos

Similar to you I now have a lot of mint growing around the place in old canna pots, and get the lawn mower guy to create a wall of stink between the grow and any nosy neighbors, by dumping his lawn grass at the boundary ..easy

cedar mulch can work for small greenhouses on days where smell is getting out of hand go out and turn it over with a rake. helps keep weeds at bay,, also having a smelly compost heap can help a little too, definately run some fans and filters as scrubbers if you cant keep things in check

like your answer for odor. since i'm in the country honey-wagon masks anything. sounds like location is suburban so a bonemeal on lawn would mask odor without being offencive.

this is misleading as hell imo.... it doesnt need to be sealed, it just needs negative pressure 24.7 with scrubbers........ just like anyone running non-sealed co2 indoor rooms

I am not sure what the best answer in term of control would be. I use fans at both ends. That is with the goal of preventing concentrated odors from leaving the GH.
