The stars have started to align and I'm finally gonna have the space to set up my new gro Within 2 weeks building begins and hopefully plants should be in this bitch a couple days after that Ordering a custom KIND design panel from dxsoundco and mixing up my soil this week


I plan to build a framed/insulated/drywalled 8x8x6 room in my garage. This will be the main flowering room with 3 1k, 2 hps and 1 mh. 12"x20" phresh intake filter bringing in air from under my house crawl space, exhausted thru a 12in vortex with a big ol can filter. 12" oscillating wall fan to blow under each light, 70 pint dehumidifier, 5 disc pond fogger. Gonna do geopot beds in plastic trays, 4x8 and 4x4. Reflectix for the walls.

Anything I'm missing? I'll be documenting the build here to hopefully get some pointers for my noob ass, I'm gonna need them haha

It's a vented room, hence the 12" vortex that should be more than enough to keep the room cool.

You can put two 12" Vortex's in there if you want but from my experience you will need an air conditioner. At the very least in the summer.

AC is a must, outside air is too unpredictable with temperature and humidity. AC will make life a lot easier.

Did you guys miss the part about pulling air from the crawl space? It stays around 65 year round, I'm also running lights at night.

I run a 1k with a 6" 420cfm fan at 75% right now and it's kinda inefficient the way I have it setup, no problems. I see plenty of people doing it without a ac? A 1200cfm fan can't do 3 1k's? Am I missing something?

After doing some calculations based off the ventilation thread I'm thinking a 6" fan on a carbon scrubber should be able to exchange the room air enough and will keep costs lower as I'll need the smaller filters. To keep room temps down I'll have the 3 lights air cooled on a closed loop with a 800cfm 8" fan. The 8in fan might be pushing it but should be about perfect based off the ratios.

Maybe someone more experienced can chime in?

Mixed up a yard of soil 2 days ago and I've ordered/picked up nearly everything I need, just need the environmental control, dehumidifier and room build. Should be starting construction next monday, any tips to a newb who's never framed a room would be highly appreciated

Fuckin electrician decided to go out of town right when I'm doing all this, hoping he'll be back by the first or around then. I've decided to just have him install a 50amp sub panel and wire of a 4 light cap controller versus buying the panel from dxsoundco, I really wanted the dxsoundco panel but the guy has really bad customer service and I didn't wanna chance having him take a month to make my panel....

On a side note these raptors are fucking huge!!! 2 of these werent easy to fit into my gf's 2 door honda civic... hahaha

Reconsider your room dimensions. A 1000w has an effective footprint of 4x4. With 3 you're under lit at 47 w per sq ft, but the big problem is that there's no way to evenly distribute the light. Either go with 4k or change room size to 4x12.

If you can, you'll be glad down the road if you go with at least 7' height, 8's better.

Also, the temp under you room may be 65, but when you start pulling air, it'll be drawing air from outdoors with little cooling time spent under room. Set things up so you can easily add AC later if needed. Good luck. -granger

The lights each cover a 4x4 area with 4x4 left for equipment and space for me, 8x8 is only the total room size. If I did what you said I would have no room to water or fit dehumidifier.

The space under my house is big and I'm running lights at night when it's 65 outside anyways. I have no problems cooling 1800w right now with 2 4in fans and a 6in all dialed down to 75% and the 6" is on a filter. I don't get what I'm missing? Seems like you guys are really against vented rooms.... Hahahaha

Got the room all built up and have everything is running perfectly so far, temps are running 70-76 at night and low 80s during the day. Not really a big deal because I plan to only run it at night starting in about a week or so. I can manage temps during the day with my pond fogger as it drops temps about 3-4 degrees. Kinda skimped on the frame but its still really solid!

Have you considered humidity? How's the humidity in your area? If you're in a coastal area where humidity is usually high, you be moving humid, spore laden air thru the room all the time, which frequently causes Powdery Mildew and Bud Rot [aka Grey mold or Botritus]. Good luck. -granger

I live right on the coast, running a dehumidifier and humidifier(pond fogger) for humidity and presh filter to filter spores. Honestly tho I find powdery mildew is a lot more strain/pheno dependent for me, no problems with it if I stick to plants that are resistant.
