Leaving nutrient solution uncovered or not?

Hello,

I am mixing my nutrients (Canna Coco A+B) in 1.5 l bottles for hand watering.

I usually let the water stand for 24 hours before adding nutes (chlorine evaporation), then i let it stand at least overnight before watering.

I pH the solution right before watering

My question is the following - Once i already mix in the nutes into the 1.5 liter bottles, should I let the nute solution sit in them with the bottles covered or uncovered?

Does this make any difference in terms of quality of nutes?

Or am I just looking for crap to analyze :)

Cheers

If anything, leaving the jars uncapped would potentially allow for evaporation to occur, screwing up your concentration, and your pH. So just leave the cap on. Although it really doesn't matter if you're only waiting 24 hours or so. But just, get into the habit of keeping your nutes capped up.

I would put the caps on loosely. Very little evaporation will occur, pressure [if any] can escape. But why not mix all in a larger container? Less measuring. Good luck. -granger

Well, i dont measure in a larger container just cause its easier to feed from the 1.5 L bottle than say the 5L bottle. I'm doing a microgrow in a 30x30x60cm tent.

Also, i was under the impression that the nute solution looses strength over time if not used up quickly after mixing it up - unfortunately i dont have a PPM meter to confirm this. Might be completely off here

For your size grow, forget what I said about mixing larger amounts. I don't know about nute potency loss, but in a few days, your solution will go anaerobic. Not good. If it starts to stanking, pour it out in the yard. Good luck. -granger
