I know, I'm super impressed! Good thing I've got plenty of vertical space.. Now I just wonder how much pruning I'm going to have to do.

You're the man Hush. Looks good so far.

Is the bottom of the hempy buckets filled with pure perlite? And is the drain hole the standard 2" off the bottom?

Thank you! No the bottoms are filled with hydroton instead of perlite. It's just what I had on hand. But yes, the holes are at 2 inches.

Actually, it's not much of a "system". It's just a manifold I made using 1/2" poly hose, a compression coupling, and 1/4" irrigation tubing. Literally all it is, is taking the 1/2" tubing that comes from the water pump, and just forcing the water to split off into several 1/4" lines. Then I just made it look purty.

Thanks for the reply, that doesn't sound like to much of a job actually. I have a aquarium pump laying around so I think I'll try to see if I can make it work today if I can get the other materials I need. I'll just make a miniature version in the sink though to see if I understand the basics of it. :dance013:

Day 5. Today I raised the light, and tied down the branches some more.

The tent is just exhausting the air out into the closet where the tent is. But the closet is actually being exhausted through the wall into another room of the house. So, not sealed at all.

The closet is also where my mother cabinet is, and where I hang dry my plants. Oh yeah, it's also where my cats litter box is.

Good place for a litter box. Carbon takes care of funky smells!

It's true! There is a 6" centrifugal fan in there, blowing through the wall, into the hallway where my house's central AC return is. This fan pulls through a large carbon filter that is suspended from the ceiling in the closet, where all the garden aromas and cat odors get scrubbed. The litter box and mother cabinet are on one end of the closet, while the 2x2 tent is on the opposite end. I also use crystal litter in the litter box instead of clumping kinds because there is no dust kicked up by the cats.

All the air that passes through the closet comes in through the "slats" on the closed closet doors. From the outside, it just looks like any old bedroom closet, except for the sound of the exhaust fan, which is justified because it is there to scrub away the poop smell. Visitors to my house know this to be the cats room, so no one is interested in poking their head in here. All anyone ever sees, if they happen to have a reason to be in this bedroom, is a regular bedroom with a regular closet, that also has a cat door installed into it.

The carbon filter works to cover up the odors of the cats, by the way. The only time I smell anything is immediately after a cat drops a stinking load, because they are steamy and they humidify the air, temporarily making the carbon not work, but that passes after a few minutes, when the crystal litter desiccates the turds.

Oh ok, that's what's on hand for us too.
Thanks man.

PS: Hempy is generally your method of choice is it? Just curious if you grow in soil as wall. We're thinkin' about it.

Nowadays, yes, it is my favorite method. It's just so simple, and productive. Honestly, my favorite method is to do flood and drain tables, sog style, but that's not the most practical method in my current situation. Maybe when the legal climate changes one day...

And yes I've grown in soil before, and I still do grow other houseplants in soil, but not organic style or anything. I've always used salts. I like the control it gives me. Hydroponics is always my preferred method, because it's so much easier and more productive. I like the concept of organic gardening, and I feel like that is how plants should be grown in the ground, but container gardening always equals hydro in my view. That's just my opinion, of course.
