HoundDog's Coco Trials and Tribulations

So I have embarked on a new journey and am going to be using this space to somewhat document this. This new journey is growing in coco. Years ago I tried doing a top drip in hydroton and then switched to DWC. For the last 5 years or so I have been using TGA supersoil, first mixing it myself and then buying the bagged stuff.

A friend of mine gave me the whole Complete Hydroponics nutrient line for free to try out so that is what I am using. I am following the manufacturers guidelines as that is what i was asked to do. Supposedly it uses the same additives as Canna with their own base or something like that.

The plants are currently at about day ten of 12/12 and looking to me like I could have flipped them earlier. In the first pic, the closest plant is blackberry with chernobyl next to it in coco beds. Then the plants in the smart pots are in supersoil and those are Hurkles. The second pic is a little blurry. It shows raspberry kush in the beds and a mix of all the strains in the smart pots. Sort of a side by side to see if I like doing coco in the beds or pots better. The plants in the beds are clearly a lot larger.

Is that a door that opens into the back of those plants?
Is that the only intrance into the garden?

A second door would allow me to stick more plants into my room.
Wish I woulda planned ahead a little more!
How long did you veg?
Been thinking of doing smartbeds myself.

TBH I don't know how long they vegged. They were waiting at a friend's house under a single T5 getting neglected while I was building. Then when I transplanted them from dirt into coco they got pretty shocked. I had to wait for them to pull out of that. So over a month for sure.

I saw that stuff the other day, realized it was spot on for canna in the guaranteed analysis, I was interested, but every where I saw it, it seemed to be no cheaper than i could get canna for. Will be very curious to see how it turns out. Hopefully the line works and gets popular, would love a cheaper version of canna.
Thanks man. I'm interested to see how it works out too. I'm hoping the quality will be close to the super soil. I got a lot to learn about coco.
My experience so far with coco is some stuff tasted actually better coming out of coco when compared to organic. Some strains where no doubt tastier out of the organic. The ones that seemed to taste better out of coco (canna coco line) where the hybrids with a more delicate flavor (wrecks, some ogs, etc). Kind of seemed like it allowed some of the terps to express themselves more. The earthier stuff its tough to beat organic.

No, other people have posted good reports and their prices are killer. As soon as I use up my nutes I'm switching over to them guys i think. Lots of guys on here also buy their fulvic and their triacontanal. I've been looking for months trying to decide which nutes to switch over to later this year and these guys are in the lead so far :tiphat:

What about the so called organic nutes? Does that help with that earthy flavor?

Ill have to get back to you on that, just finishing one where I fed lots of guano, teas and kelp/carb. So far it seems as though my old tried and true bad ass kushes hate coco, but hopefully I can turn that around. I have made some errors along the way, and not sure if i can really hold it against coco just yet. I really want this one to taste awesome even though the run wasn't good, I know I can fix the issue and get good growth.

I might have given some bad advice here. Still waiting to see about flavor, but the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that using so much organic material in plants i am watering so heavily was a contributing factor to the problems I have had with coco. Still not sure, but wanted to pass it along.

I had a buddy that just switched back to soil because he couldn't get the flavor where he wanted it even with adding teas every other feeding.

I can't seem to get a good picture with my camera in this room for some reason. Maybe I need to turn the flash off. Anyways, here is a quick update from day 22.

Well I took these pictures to come on here and ask what you guys thought the problems were, but after testing my runoff I already know. Nute burn. PPMs were so high that my meter says or which I am guessing means out of range. So I started to flush them. Glad they are still alive lol.
