T5 question - veg tent - shelf ?

im using a 4 foot 6 bulb t5 120v light fixture , its being used in a shelf like syestem . the light roughly measures 4 foot by 2 foot . it is lighting 8 square feet or a area of 4' lx2'wx3feet h . i have read everywhere keep light as close as possible and humidity for the veg stage at around 40-60 % . here's my question any tricks or tips or ideas to keep veg area under 80 degrees farenheit and humidity over 50% ? why do i ask my plant looked and felt dry slight inward folding of the leaves , it usually stayed within a60- 65 ( lights off )to 76-84 range (lights on 4-8 inches under the light ) so i figured it was humidity . i bought a humidiistat or hydrostat to measure humidity it was low 30-37% . so i hooked up a humidifier and it didn .t make much difference never really getting above 40-45% . so i enclosed the shelving area that the vegging plants are held in to create a tent and hopefuly raise humidity . it worked a little raising it to usually 35-40% rh on one level of the unit to 45-50%rh on the top level . but now its getting to hot i have tried being creative , hooking up intake and exhaust fans even fans inside to move-circulate air around i have ample fans available tried a few different speeds set ups etc any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

in veg higher humidity is better, 60-70%i

t5 6-8 bulb fixtures put out a lot of heat and doing them in an small enclosed tent can cause probs,
i have seen 4" exhaust flanges on top of t5 units,
you could try one of those to remove heat but you'll also remove the RH

your better off using a larger area like a bathroom to try and humidify the room, it'll be much easier to control RH and temps.


use T5s on my veg'lings and get the bulbs within 2-3" from the tops, i get beautiful short node spacing like this
you have to run a fan at the end of the fixture or you'll have heat issues

I've inserted a pc fan mid section of my rack to suck out that hot stale air, to above the rack then out of the closet by a 4 inch air pump, makes a big difference to growth rate, also balancing the kelvins 2700k and 6500k is a great bonus ..!
