Northern Strains

Outdoor '14 is right around the corner so lets start talking about strains for this summer. This is more geared towards people living in the northern states where cooler temps, excessive rain, and the need to finish by early october are essential. Last year I ran some AK47xGDP crosses and they seemed to fend off bud rot pretty well. This year I'm hoping to keep improving, wanna run some pure AK's because from what I've seen they are very hardy for us northern guys. What is everyone else on here thinking for the coming year!?

Im at 38n coldcanna. I can go to mid october but ive been growing along long timje and at this latttitude and anything north of here doesnt get any real growith/develpment after oct 1. Ive measured it.The buds get darker but not bigger.

Some good strains for northern growers

Dinafem blue widow is a killer. One of the best. Big yield, poten smoke and done by the end of sept or earliier. There's a pheno or 2 in the strain that finish mid sept.

Dinafem has a blueberry male that is very very fast, but llike all bberries, she lets the female breeder shine through. The BB hust adds some fruity taste and a big strong stucture. Their blue thai is fast as well. DOnt BUY their blue hash. Hashplant from sensi or dinafem or anyone else sucks and has no potency. The blue hash has no potency.

Biddy early from Serious is anohter stellar cold climat strain. Sweet vanilla taste and a good sativa high..

Barney's Pinapple chunk is nice smoke and a big fast plant. Excellent potency

The guerilla gold crosses just dont reach the level of potency that i grow for. They do have some poetency 6.

The Alaskan Thunderfuck hybrid version does pretty damn well in the cold and moist climates from what I hear. Haven't gotten to try it myself cause Socal never gets cold, or moist heh.

Pineapple Chunk is killer, been doing this in the g.h. for a couple years. had it tested at a little over 23% at one of our local dispensaries

I'll second Biddy Early. Still have a pack (keychain), from Magus.

I'm at 44°N and it was my outdoor favorite.

I 2nd Blue Widow! She yielded by far the best for me and had little to no mold in the swamp I was in.. which was very humid. I'm going to try Critical + again, although I had some mold problems. I've heard good things about Guerrilla Gold, will be trying that out for the first time this year along with pineapple chunk bc this is the 5th place I've seen that strain recommended for us up north.

How do you guys prevent early flowering up here? I'm at 43N

An acquaintance touts these as good ones in the north:

Alaskan Thunder (Sat.)
Matnuska Valley Tundra
Whistler’s Gold
BC Thunder
Alaskan Ice (WW x Haze)

I'm stuck this season with White Widow...but looking forward to it.

Guerilla good crosses work very well up north. Anything with the auto affie in it does well too. Also Mighty mite crosses are great for us northerners.
