Greetings lordnicle-

I've grown white widow auto....nice strain!! Mmmmm!

What grow medium are you using? Soil? Hydro? Coco coir?

You won't see much explosion in growth until a week or two later. That's when autos really start to flourish...once a good root system is in place. At twenty (20) days, you are barely seeing pistils.

Bottom leaves turning yellow, but rest of the plant is green and healthy looking??

What about your lights?

How many hours are you running or is it outside? Indoors I have light timer @ 18/6...18 on....6 off. Works beautifully for me.

Tell me more....I'll be glad to guide you.

Ok, lordnicle....are you watering a lot? That could be a reason for the yellowing or turning pale leaves.

By normal soil, you are using soil bought from a garden shop or hydro store? Or did you mix it yourself....or is it from your garden?

Not to worry about your English....I can understand you. By the way, where are you from? Just curious.

If you are not over watering, are you using any fertilizers (granular, organic or water soluble?).

Main leaves (like the big fan leaves?), you say are light green, the rest is a normal healthy green right?

Yeah, I'll continue to assist in sorting out any problems you have with your White Widow.

We'll sort this out. No worries.:)

aridbud...yeah i put water almost everyday because the soil get f****n hot under the light and it get dried....so im afraid she has not sufficient water...the soil is a good one, gave from my granny just because she got planty of green...so i figure its good soil.....
i never put fertilizers so maybe i overwatin that..
the two big leaves are almost light green, while the rest is dark green..the pale leaves are basically yellow........
...how i have to water it? the recipe is 20 cmx20 cm and high 30-40cm...
and..
..what u suggest to me for any natural "food" to give her, as coffee, fruit rests....
(..im italian for less cuz im moving to cali tryin to take the greencard..)
...you are my salvation aridbud!!
(u dont want to watch her?)

thanks again man and hope u doin good!!
peace man!

Yes, sounds like you are overwatering. Can you mix some Perlite in it....possibly even though the soil is dry, the roots aren't getting oxygen. Try mixing in perlite or a little sand, being careful not to damage tap roots.

Yeah, once you can post pics, please do. Not sure how many forum responses you need to post pics.

Can you raise your light any?? Or can you use a personal fan to help hot air move? Also, I'd dial down to 18:6....those 2 extra hours seem to be stressing (especially if your light gives off a lot of heat)...and really....the extra 2 hours in you 20/4 don't make the plant grow any faster or more robust.

First, before using any compost tea (I use coffee grounds in my veggie garden....they love the nitrogen)....work on the light/heat situation.

And how big is your container size? I imagine it's in liters....use something like 3-5 gallon container. 15 -20 liter size. Sure you can use a yogurt cup or a 2 liter soda bottle....you'll reap only 7-10 grams. I'm guessing you want the best harvest you can grow, right?

If you can gently see if roots are root bound (a mass of roots in one area) there is a possibility you need to transplant.

If you have trouble understanding what I'm saying...tell me...I'll do my best to rephrase or word another way so you can understand.

I've tried using Google for translation with others on forum who are Italian....Google really doesn't work or I've confused those asking questions.

dear aridbud...sure id like to have the best harvest i can grow..
..for how much the plant is smart...i can say you the roots are little...because ive moved it from a little box to this new one...about 20liters....
..the root is just one, this is my personal opinion..maybe it could have more little roots but surely they are not a mass just because i moved it from less time...
i could send you via email..or skype...or whatever is good for you..
...i will do 18/6 as you said and i will use a fan to move the air..cant post pics because im new here....
how many times i have to water it on a box of 20liters? raise the light means? increase it? from 220 to 400?...perlite is difficult to get it here....little sand just more easy...
..tell me man..im all ears :)

Ok, a little sand....that might help.

When I mean raise the light....move it away (or higher) from plants so they aren't heat stressed.

As mentioned...20 days....the plant is just starting to get some good root growth going.

Do you have Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate)? Here it's used for a variety of things.... nitrogen (green) fertilizer, sore muscles, a laxative. If it's easy to buy, get a small box of it. Next watering mix a teaspoon into 1 gallon...5ml of Epsom salt to approx. ~3.7 liters.....or 2.5 ml to ~2 liter water.

How much do you water before soil surface is dry?
If you said the soil is dried out often...then heat is an issue. That's why I recommended a personal fan (if you have it) and have the light farther away from the plant.

Are you growing in a closet or what type of space?

As a general rule, I don't water my plants until the 2-3" (4-6 cm) of soil near container top is dry.

Here on ICMag...you need a number of posts to send a PM (private message). I don't dare give out my email address....yikes!!

Try those things I mentioned and let me know how it goes....I'll peg your posts so I can answer.

Good luck (buona sorte or Buona fortuna )....you'll get your plant happy and growing!!! :dance013:

ehi aridbud...first of all...thanks again for your respective collaboration with me...
..what u mean whit little sand.....sand of the beach works??
..and...i will move the light just a bit high from that....consider its 7-8 cm high from the plant....i will put 10-13 cm above the plant..(220 is good or i need 400w?)..and i do it on big spot..my bathrom...thats it..
..when i water i put it till the soil gets full of water not to digg it...
...today ill buy that solphate and ill let u know how it goes....
..thanks again...waiting for your info...that value the life of that baby! :'D

peace man! god can bless u

Hey lordknicle-

Yes, move the light like you mentioned. I think that is what is making your soil dry as it is too close to the plant.

Is your light a cfl, LED or high intensity discharge? I'm guessing HID since the others do not emit much heat off the bulb.

No need to get sand....I use it in my soil mix to help with soil not being so dense. That's minor.

Just water to where soil is saturated....then let it rest a few days (to dry out).

The Epsom salts....it's a good "tonic", but you only need it every 5-6 waterings....or 7-8.Generally I use it about 3 times per plant during entire process....seedling to harvest. Meaning mix it once and use on your plant, then the remaining intervals to water, just use regular water. You are using water from the faucet, right??

I think you'll see improvement soon!! ;o)

Hi again
The only other thing I can think of when you described your plant- is the soil really compacted? Meaning hard or dense? That could make lower leaves start to yellow, as well. Plus the root system would be hard to spread out with compact soil.

Hard to know without seeing any photos, but the light heat, I think, is the main issue.

hi aridbud....the soil is compacted and it get dried so fast.....gotta say u i got the light above the plant about 30-40 cm...and i should water once a day at least.........
...i ve bought epsom saults and i put it on the soil with a good watering...ye i think too its hard for the roots because the soil is too much compressed...dont know if its too much dried or the soil that values nothin.....

now also the big leaves are turnin a bit yellow! im gettin worried so much man! i gave it epsom....nutrients....a big turning fan........and a 400w light 30-40 cm from the plant...whats the problem now? why the plant is turning yellow?! only the soil is compressed....what shall i do....more water or wait soil will dry from the heat of the light? :( help please :'(

Hi lordknicle-

Ahhhh, try to see if you can add something to the soil so it's not as compact or dense. Can you get peat? Or can you buy bagged compost? Perlite would be ideal, but you say that's hard to get.

Try working in some sand (beach sand is ok)....you might want to rinse it before mixing in the soil....sea salt might be in it.

Or if you have stores nearby, buy a bag of potting soil (bagged) and mix in with the soil you have.

I think it has heat problems from the light....stay with the 220 w....possibly nutrient imbalance....Epsom salt and water should help that. And soil...which I've mentioned....you need to get it so soil can crumble easily...not compact.

ok perfect i will buy soil that crumble easily.....for the light i got only the 400w because the 220 not work anymore......so i must use that.....
...ehm......i decided to let it rest a few days with no light and a little bit of water to try get green leaves again........so i should buy a new soil and mix it with this one basically? right?

Yeah, you can do that...mix up soil in another box/container, then remix.

However, if yellowing continues on the plant....I'm sad to say, it is dying.
If that is the case, try again (another seed)....with better soil mixed in.

I think you had several things going on that is choking your plant. If plant continues the yellowing....then there's not much to do...but learn from your experience....start anew.
