Strain selection for outdoor 2012....

V

Veg N Out

LA Con & Bubba are Mid October finishers..I lit my stuff deep last year...All it got me was a bunch of problems..One example is things coming in a week later than the same clones grown the same way in the same general area...The garden Lit till mid July still Produced a 4LB per plant average...But the other gardens produced a 5.25 and 6.8 LB per plant average over a similar # of plants...I didn't even use supplemental lighting this year in my main fields...Just in the green house early on...If you need lights to tend the plant after 5/25 , you should really ask yourself..."Why am I choosing to invest the $ on the soil , time , effort on this line" You only get 1 chance at each hole every Summer...Make em count..

if youve only been doing outdoor for a year or two and already have 'farmhands' doing your work for you, your never going to be in touch with what it really takes to be an outdoor farmer imho. You have to live this stuff, breathe it, get the dirt under your nails so much they get stained....

also gcg and veg make good and valid points, again imho

That was a little harsh GoldCountry......Thanks for the response Yes4Prop215, and since you gave me the cut I will take what you say to heart.

Not saying you are wrong gold country, but I find when people have an arrogant attitude like the one you just displayed, it is there to compensate for lack of knowledge. Maybe I totally mis read things and if so I apologize, but no reason to jump down Yes4Props thought.

Sorry, I call it like I see it, that info is bullshit he gave.

Lack of knowledge? Wrong, I'm very familiar with both strains.

Telling people Bubba and LA Con are done in September is inaccurate. Just because they can be, doesn't mean they should be.

Coming from the one who is squabbling about supp. light on the solstice?

My man, you are an asset, but remember, ignorance is bliss.

If you are gonnna try to get good at something, keep your mouth shut and look/listen.

blessings.

well on my side of the valley it is! you are in gold country you should know....i know a bunch of people who run the bubba/LA con cut every year and its always picked by end of september...yea it could maybe go an extra week buts by then its frosty and sellable and we can push to market a few weeks before the main flood season. I HAVE BEEN LISTENING and im well aware i am no expert farmer by any means anybody who has met me up north will verify i am solid learner and hungry in this game..... no need for arrogant attitudes i got plenty of dirt under my nails and sunburn on my back, and assets already established that prove im a hard worker at whatever i do....especially for someone as young as me who wasnt born into the outdoor lifestyle...

interesting how people are gossiping...dont take my comments out of context. I was in the field almost every single day for the last month....i have multiple projects running and you are right i have some helping hands most growers i know also have them...i dont see people giving moonshine crap for hiring a crew to work his 300 light warehouse..i guess hes not really in touch with his plants either?? its a 3 hour drive both ways i live dual lives i cant be on the mountain every waking instance..

i guess its more of a "damn oaksterdamn guys coming in and takin our jeeeeerrrrrrrbbs" kind of attitude.....

i dont hold any internet grudges this game is diverse and every body has their own methods to madness and their own egos to deal with....so im just gonna chill out from here on this little matter. if my posts sound rude they are not because type gets taken out of context...if it was in person things would be much more civil....it would be "i take my LA con til october 7th the shine is way better and you will be happy with your results versus your sept 27th LA con" instead of "his advice his bullshit...shut up and listen we know everything"...

peace....

You need to understand that I said that are an asset to the community, implying many people will look at what you say and without even thinking themselves will imitate it.

If you would have explained yourself a little better in the first place I'm sure my reaction would be different.

LaCon nor Bubba are done before october, not even close.

Like we both agree, I guess you can pick it then, well you can pick it earlier even, but that's not the right answer and I assumed that's what the community is aiming for.

Sorry if you take offense to how I word myself. :tiphat:

maybe the butte county kush cut is not real LA or Bubba that you are running.....i brought up the IC LVPK cut and it was so similar i could not tell the difference between the cuts we bought labeled "LA".

now i feel like the dick lol....keep it easy out there folks. not intending to step on anyones toes..just sayin i cropped my LA every year a bit earlier than the other strains like OG...even indoors the LA and LVPK cuts can be harvested at 56 days with enough frost/smell for good market price....although i prefer 60-65.

Well sorry my question stirred up so much shit, now I am thinking the 14th of Oct sounds perfect, lol.

As far as experience goes, I can tell you first hand that if you don't have somebody showing you what to do then it might take forever to learn. I know I have only grown by myself, with no help, my entire grow life, which is over 15 years now. I read every book and had hundreds of harvests and my grow skills were still beginner. In the last 4 years alone i feel I have learned over 60% of my total knowledge because of ICmag and learning from others. Things like strain info, AACT, organic soil conditions, grow room design, ext ext are all things I have learned from others that have brought me to a whole notha level.

So "time" in the garden can't be the only measure of experience. If you learn from the best, you can become the best. This is why I am asking people like GoldCountryGuy and Yes4Prop215, because they help bring me to a whole notha level. Thanks fella's.

im not the best man far from it lol...i try to learn as much as possible from everyone i know from the guys doing small organic 25 plant gardens to the ones doing 100s of plants....the learning curve in growing weed never ends theres always something new to learn or do better.. doing indoors and outdoors at the same time is lots of work/fun and really helps you learn alot about plants...growing is only one aspect of this life as well....i dont have many real friends who are not involved in growing..peace

..If you need lights to tend the plant after 5/25 , you should really ask yourself..."Why am I choosing to invest the $ on the soil , time , effort on this line" You only get 1 chance at each hole every Summer...Make em count..

i saw preflowers and played cautious...this spot doesnt have full southern exposure so i didnt wanna risk it....next year will be much much different i am well aware of the shortcomings and mistakes learned...outdoor mistakes is a bitch because i have to wait until next year unlike indoors just switch things up after each crop... also the $, soil, and time isnt that much $ imo, 300 bucks a 200gal that could potentially yield 3-5 lbs is small risk.. crunching numbers on a new indoor 25kw project and the investment is more than 2x what i spent on my 60 plant 200 gal outdoor garden...

peace

in my limited experience the only plants that I've seen really ready before 10-10 @39/40 lat were autoflowers that budded from early july and finished three weeks into september. im pretty sure that at that latitude a 10-10 harvest is just about right for a 56 day indoor strain, but I could be wrong.

Nondual, where can I find E18 Seeds

Nondual, where can I find E18 Seeds

E18 Seeds or the strain don't exist, unless someone else has heard about it.

Some of you guys in the Butte county area should try and get a hold of E18. It's 12.5% Trainwreck, 12.5% Nepalese, 25% Blue Knight and 50% Green Crack. It's definitely got a bit of the Trainwreck twang but much more complex than that. Larger buds but similar appearance to GC. The buds are rock hard and beautiful looking. It's a MONSTER yielder and my buddy told me some were getting 12 lbs. a plant. Even if you treat it like shit it yields well and puts out great herb. It's very potent. I'll get some pics up in the next day or two of a few buds I picked up. The buds come out so good it can easily pass for indoor. Kind of doesn't make sense to grow it inside lol.

I can easily seeing this becoming pretty popular in the next year or two. Think it finishes like Oct 7-15. The guy that made it is giving cuts freely so it should be in a neighborhood near you soon!

This is the first time I have seen someone that has been correct on our local strain impressed. The dime sounds great. Wish I could get my hands on it.
