I thought in this state that it would be amusing to start a thread about copycats, will probably regret it! This is about famous people getting ahead by imitating less recognized people. Jim Carrey ripping off Matt Frewer (that was the reason for this thread look it up you will see what I mean), Harry Potter being a cheap imitation of Lord of the Rings, I think I had a 3rd I forgot now. anything else?

well not in any shape to be having this debate right now, but so many characters from wizzards to harry himself are replicas of very similar characters in Lord of the rings. Matt Frewer got so screwed by Jim Carrey it isn't funny, and surprising he did not put up a protest!

Alright, now I am wondering why I started this thread! :D But no I did not mean his Max Heaadroom role, but in a Star Trek TNG episode that I believe was called "A Matter of Time". Jim Carrey's persona, exagerated facial expressions and movements are like Frewer to a tee! Maybe 10 percent or a little more is original, but the rest is pure Frewer and why he didn't sue I don't know.

The Lion King totally ripped off the cartoon Kimba The White Lion. I don't know how the Kimba people lost in court too. It was pouring salt on the wound.

Same almost exact plot.
