I've lurked long enough... Here's mine

I just started learning about growing last summer. It is an always evolving process for me. I want to thank you all for your wonderful inspiration and insight. I have learned a ton from many of you. I am still keeping things very small in my micro. I am only growing bagseed as I learn. Partly due to the difficulty to order seeds to my location, and honestly I like the randomness of it.

I use CFL's. Right now, I have 3 26w cool light cfls. I have a powerstrip mounted to the ceiling of my closet with 3 outlet to socket adapters. I vegged for 3 weeks (newbie mistake) and switched the lights to 12/12. I wish I'd waited for preflowers. I only have one plant, that could very well end up being a male. The tops are bunching up now and I will be finding that info out any day. Once the sex is determined, and assuming she's a she, I will switch to 5 26w warm CFL's and add more as necessary. Its not anything advanced at all but for some of you this may give you the idea you need to add light in your grow, heres a picture right now
.

Hypothetically you could add as many as you'd like. Just get a new power strip and some 97 cent outlet to sock adapters any time you need more light. I have noticed with these cool spectrum CFL's that they actually do produce quite a bit of heat. My 1 fan runs 24 hours and is only keeping my grow space between 79 and 81 degrees, so I need another fan.

My grow space is a little confined, plenty wide just not tall. My soil is just some premium potting soil with lots of goodies. Its performed very well for me. I have not seen a hair yet on this baby. I am expecting to see a ball covered plant any day now honestly, but we'll see. I wouldn't be that upset because I am getting excited for warmer weather. Its so much easier for me to veg the babies outside then bring them in for flower. That's how I learned at least, last year in my first grow I had one beautiful little lady, and I MEAN little lol. I made all the newbie mistakes.

I only had one 36w CFL for all of flower. I harvested way to early out of excitement and got only a couple grams off her. To top it all off, by the time the buds were actually cured I had about half a bowl left :woohoo:. So I am ready for the suns good light to roll back through so I can do better this year. The plant I have now is more learning for me and I have learned a lot in a years time. Thanks for checking in on me. I will post an update soon. Probably a its a boy announcement but fingers crossed.

preflowers just started popping up. I suppose if its a boy I will know by the end of the night or tomorrow morning. From my limited little bit of experience I want to say the actual tops aren't forming like usual males, so I'm a little more hopeful today than yesterday. I am not noticing any ball clusters or balls at all so far. Tops are giving me hope but no hairs yet.

Well guess what?! Aside from my early fears, she is in fact a she! So I got pretty lucky. Originally I germed 3 seeds and 2 popped. One of them was just a bad seed. It grew but had some sort of genetic problem causing it to twist and grow fan leaves all bunched up on one side of the plant. So I did no have much faith from the beginning.

But what was going to be practice is now my new baby! I am glad I posted pictures when I did because I think it is a good example of what literally happens over night. I though last night I saw a couple hairs poking up around the last true nodes, but I didn't get excited until this morning. So if you are trying to find out what it looks like when you make the mistake of flowering early and are waiting to see sex, that's what it looks like. The new pistils poked out around the tops and the nodes just below them. This happened a few days after the tops starting bunching up.

On males the tops bunch up as well but they show their balls much quicker and it looks like a big cluster right in the center of the top, not long after that your plant will literally be covered in them.

I am thinking of making my closet grow a stealth closet grow. I want to build a cabinet on one side with a passive intake a cooling fan and a DiY carbon filter exhaust. I don't know exactly how its going to be setup though. I am worried that this little lady is gonna make some stinky nugs that I may not be able to hide by shutting the closet door.
