Discrimination is awesome!

Based on our hobby of choice, I assume the majority of us would love the government to stay out of our business.

A business continues to exist because of profit. They are able to meet payroll, pay rent, keep the lights on etc.

So if a private business owner refuses service to someone for any reason, they are risking their own existence. There is a cost to that action.

All Government and state workers must treat everyone equally. An EMT can not show up and refuse treatment because of the victim's race, color, religion etc.

But in the news it has been about Bakeries. There are bakeries on darn near every block.

Should a private (Key word Private) Business owner not have the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason regardless of how trivial. (Get out redheads scare me...)

Until recently I assumed they did. I saw signs like

"The management reserves the right to deny service to anyone for any reason."

What is the alternative:

A swat raid on a bakery. AR's drawn.

"Get in there! Turn on that Oven! Bake! Bake! bake!"

Also,

Would you even want to eat a cake that was baked by someone under duress?

Would you want your money to enrich a business that is Anti-whatever you are ?

If a private company refuses your money. There are plenty of companies that will gladly take your money. Protest on the public side walk right in front of the store. And also there's this internet thing that's been catching on as of late.

There are ignorant, closed-minded people in the world. Racist. classist, sexist, etc.. Just plain jerks.
Why are people no longer aware of that?

Instead, 911 is called when a fast food place forgets your fries, or refuses to serve you breakfast because your were 10 minutes too late.

There are no anti-discrimination laws in AZ.
Several cities have adopted certain discrimination bills on their own.
What they are talking about now is overturning those laws in those cities.
All the bakery bullshit is just a way to confuse the issue.
I heard one use a catering business as an example. They go on to say that if a jewish person runs a business and a client wants pork, the jew should be allowed to refuse to serve pork without fear of a lawsuit.
This story is complete bullshit and just a disguise. Dont be fooled.
If you can exclude a group of people from commerce, you can exclude them from your society

First and foremost in regards to your last sentence, fuck you and Mcdonalds, McMuffins should be served all day, their a billion dollar company, they have the money to retrofit their kitchens and install more grills to safely hand eggs and sausage, MAYBE if there isnt quiet the demand for McMuffins throughout the day, grills should be prioritized .i would have no problem waiting 10 minutes or more if it meant I could get a MCmuffin, they'd probably be a best seller if served all day so i dont think this would be an issue.

if a business doenst want to serve redheads then fair enough.

if they become vocal about it/ engage in pro-active anti redhead activities then alls fair and they deserve their roof being set on fire.

if a business receives local grants/funds however then imo they should have to serve reds

If you exclude someone from commerce,

Some other business will fill the void.

I am pro-live and let live,

But if a company is private and receives no government funds, then they should hace the right to be as exclusive as they desire. The market will course correct.

Trust me companies want your money.

people tend to shrug their shoulders and spend anyway, most of us could name arm long lists of companies that weve sworn to boycott but in the end said fuck it and given in.

Several cities have adopted certain discrimination bills on their own.

Are their discrimination laws already in place? or why is this stuff happening now?

This reminds me of that Seinfeld episode "The soup Nazi."

He refused service to Elaine because she was being annoying.

"No soup for you!"

They are trying to pass a law that says you have the right to discriminate.
They are trying to make them veto that bill.
There are no laws in place for the state of AZ that protects anyone from being discriminated against.
There are just cities who have their own.
If this bill passes it will be against the law to have any laws to protect against discrimination in AZ. LOL

Actually, the tides have turned. It looks like when you attempt to exclude a group from commerce, business will avoid your state all together.
Take a look...

So if the NFL pulls the super bowl from Arizona,

Would it be ok for the Government to force the NFL to hold the Super Bowl in Arizona?

How is a company not wanting to do business with Arizona, any different that a company not wanting to do business with a person?

Its a business, they are allowed to make business decisions, but they shouldnt be allowed to discriminate against someone for being different.
Its not discrimination because they arent refusing to do business based on religion, race, sexual orientation or just because someones a pothead.
Seems obvious to me, but then again I believe that people should have equal rights, and our government should protect those rights, and not try to take them away

Just look at where we are at this very moment.

icmag.com

They have a TOU.

If you don't agree, go to another site.

Should the Goverment force icmag to take back Yummy?

Everyone agrees to abide by the rules of a private web site.
If you feel that you were treated unfairly, you have the right to express yourself at another site. You have the right to post on , or create your own site. i would love to discuss other substances here, or politics...

Why can't the rules that we play by in the virtual world, not be so easily accepted in the real world?

for example Many people don't like Zuckerberg's rules, so they go elsewhere.

So just to be clear, you would be cool with a bar or eatery putting up a sign that said "Whites only"
The old UK sign said "No blacks, no dogs, no Irish".

Discriminating against people for inherent traits is really sad.

The idea that the wonderous magical market will sort this is bollocks.

The really pathetic people are the whiny babies who think that gay people having the same rights as everybody else, takes something away from them.

It would be sad to see that sign.
But where is it promised that I would live a life free of emotional distress? Maybe that business would prosper. Maybe a racist sexist intolerant company earn record profits every quarter. If they are privately owned, and don't take a dime of tax dollars, they should be allowed to exist.

Some people think that marijuana is the cause of all evil. They have called it the demon weed. Yet this web site should be allowed to exist.

Equally, where was it promised that the limited minds should have everything their way in their life?

Just what is the problem anyway... "Oh noes I've just sold a Latte to a poof, I might catch teh gaaaaaaay"

I would NOT be cool with a sign that said whites only". But I would deal with it. The same as if I saw a sign that said "blacks only".
You have to respect OTHER peoples beliefs, no matter how crude YOU believe them to be.
Government has absolutely NO right to legislate personal beliefs or feelings..Govt. ONLY has the right to interfere if such a person carries their personal beliefs to the point of physical harm against another person.

About 6 million Jews might disagree there.* I mean it was Hitler's firmly held sincere belief that the Jews were to blame for all the ills in the world, and that they needed to not exist any more.

Mandatory respect of beliefs, no, just no. I was always told that respect is something that can't be given, it has to be earned. The word Respectable exists because some things are just not respectable.
