spending 18 months trying to correct my calmag issue, put a potato slice on top of your soil. check back and look for little black or light colored bugs. if they are root aphids they can have wings or not. they can exist for years in a grow only causing minor issues(like yours).

Wow! Have never heard of that....and simple diagnosis tool!!! Will remember that one. Don't recall those kinds of buggers infesting....although 1 episode of thrips....that was an itchy skull type reaction seeing them!!! Grrr.

Heard to detect black mold in basements or damp areas....slice half an onion and set in room. If it turns black within a day....mold!! Of course, naysayers will dispute that.

@Mr-Lover....hoping whatever going on is remedied soon! Those girls are too beautiful to lose!

Johnhinkley Speaks gospel re: potato

I chased very similar symptoms around and around. Potato wedge buried an inch or so in soil for 48 hours will let you know definitively wgat is lurking in your medium. I few the potato under 30x microscope and found soil mites, nematodes, springtails, and the dreaded fungus gnat larvae. I then knew my enemy. Cant hurt to try.
