HID - Seedling - Heat -

Hello,

I have determined powering on my 600 Watt HID bulb during the beginning stages of germination will provide the ideal temperatures within my 4X4X7 tent.

Question:

What height should I hang the hood (bulb)? I'd like to mimic the amount of "sun" present during the natural germination period outdoors. I've heard that introducing intense light at the beginning of growth is beneficial for the seedling to effectively adapt to its environment.

my seedlings seem to like their 600w. i wouldn't get the light closer than 12" for seedlings though.

It isn't imperative that the seeds germinate in complete darkness, correct? For I am going to directly sow within a rockwool cube inside my tent.

i like germing in rockwool too. drop the bean and wait. if under more intense light i will break off a small bit of rockwool and lightly place it over the hole. that will shade the bean from the intense light till it pops through the top.
