This thread turned out to be an ill-conceived marketing effort by the OP. Anybody who addressed the topic in other than a humorous manner has wasted their time. Those of us who took it as a joke wasted their time too, of course - but at least that was our plan to start

Yes, the resin is where all the "tars" and carcinogens reside. If you're used to toking with a pipe that has no filtration at all, you probably won't notice a big difference in flavor toking the "resin" from your pipe. This is because the same stuff is already in your lungs!
For me and many others using a water pipe, bong or whatever to filter out the resinous crap is the only way to go.
And yes you will likely have breathing problems if you smoke "resin" all day.
Sure the resin still has some THC left, but not much as that has already been vaporized, as well as most other cannibinoids. So what you've got left is the byproducts of plant combustion and any scientist will tell you how bad that is to ingest.
Enjoy your carcinogens while you can... There's a ton of them in marijuana, but fortunately much of it ends up in the resin, and what gets thru to your lungs is often countered by neutralizing elements in the marijuana smoke. Those elements are likely to be gone in the resin.
Last time I smoked resin was probably in the 70s, thankfully!
BTW, the OP mentions a pipe, but I never saw a description of what kind it is.

As a sidenote...I question the efficacy of bongs and water pipes at tar removal.
In addition, any effective filtering system would inherently remove that which consume the flower for anyway.
Anyway, just sayin'.

I've yet to see a study of the efficacy of water filtration, but I know from personal experience it makes a big difference. Otherwise I'd still be using a simple metal pipe.
The reason no such studies are done is because in the US at least, the gov't only approves studies that show that marijuana is bad for you.
So they have always used joints to prove their points... thus they can claim that cannabis contains all these tars, many found in cigarettes too. Yet, the funny thing is, marijuana users just don't get cancers like tobacco smokers do!
Would be a good thing to do such a study to see exactly what gets filtered out. Other countries (such as Netherlands) may have already done such, but I can't read Dutch (who can? lol!)
I now suggest another study where some guy just smokes "resin" scraped from pipes all day and see how he fares after 40 or so years of smoking it. Any volunteers?

Nice posts by Skip explaining why resin smoking ain't that good for you. Im going to invest in a new water bong and make sure i keep it fully clean from now on. And keep my trim instead of giving it away to make sure i don't revert to resin when i run out of the good stuff
