Dead shows

I never heard them sharing the herb with the audience, but in the early days in SF, I forget the guys name, I'd have to google it, but this dude would throw these parties called the Acid Tests, and the Grateful Dead performed at these parties. Sandose was the form of LSD given at these parties along with other hallucinogens I'm sure. Probably what your dad smoked that had him tripping cartoons was DMT. The Dead was known to have a sweet tooth for DMT in those early days.

Ken Kesey was the guy and Owsley was the manufacturer of the LSD.
The joints were probably weed grown by Mountain Girl, perhaps 'Stone Buddah'

Hey all my chronologically challenged IC'rs! (i.e. old farts) i;ve got a question for ya. My dad ran away 2 theTenderloin in S.F. @ 14. He said he used to post all those concert posters for Bill Graham & got in to alot of concerts that way. I've heard many a great story about Jimi, Janis, Quicksilver Msngr Serv, Warren Zevon, et al.. My question is this.. He says @ all the old DEad concerts, they had cigar boxes w/pre-rolled jays in them. Supposed 2 b the bands own personal smoke that everyone shared. He told me the last time he smoked(cuz his thing was speed bk then), he hallucinated hard right after passing the jay. He told me everything kind of turned all cartoonish! Hard for me to believe as a long time smoker but anythings possible!! Did they really share their herbs w. the audience?? & was it that good?

Well, I was a roadie on San Francisco in those days and there was plenty of weed around the Dead. As I remember there were a couple of girls who did nothing but roll.

The metaphoric nature of Dead tunes is one the things I love! Cowboy songs, tales of old, songs of soldiers and fair maidens! It is rock for the creative mind! "Inspiration moves me brightly" "A rare and different tune" Owsley was their sound manWHOOO that's some heavy stuff! I think there is a code to the musical math of GD! Its very fractal like if you know and chaiotic if you don't! "That path is for your steps alone"

Also I think the ritual of going to shows is in DNA. Like I have been there before! The dance the frequency is a type of energy that my body remembers! It feels ancient and tribal from a spiritual level! The band I think knows this also! Its just hard to put in words like all things paranormal! Fare thee well:dance013:

Where do you think they got their name from?

The Grateful Dead are those who came before us who make up the human conscious. The idea being that they are apart of us, that we can tap into 1000s of years of existence. The bedroom scene with Ethan Hawke, from the movie Waking Life, explains this better.

I personally think the band was having constant deja vu from consuming too much LSD, while reading the Egyptian Book of the Dead around the same time...leading them to change their name from The Warlocks to The Grateful Dead.

PS: note sure if it has been convered, but it sounds like the band's personal stash of joints were laced with DMT

I think that a code of frequencies are in the music! I have had experience in this it is very unexplainable! The live show itself is very overwhelming so the code cannot be deciphered their! OHHHH but bootlegs! I have experienced being muse in certain situations words and thoughts have came to me that was not mine! A couple of times!!scared the shit and still does! I live on a river where there was a great native American massacre and on certain nights you can feel the natives presence! A few nights in particular, picture crickets chirping, moon shining, milkyway showing and the river flowing and fire burning! Live GD playin softly in the background....... next thing ya know I was telling my friends that the words coming out of my mouth are not mine! I was talking about fracking and the reason for it and also all we know is wrong and perverse by design! Up is down good is bad. time is anchor that hold us to reality! Hard to talk about what else I spoke of! After the muse left me my buddy had the same reaction and I thought he was a witch OHH yea say a dead uncle.. owner of propery watching us from inside the cottage! NO DRUGS INVOLVED just nature and GD music! Sounds crazy but... "if I told you all that went down it would burn off both your ears"

^ ...k. I just like some of their songs, can't say I've spoke in tongues while listening tho. I wish. :tiphat: They have however, put me in a good mood when listening to them. I like the songwriting aspect of how they tell a story. Not just about twerking and blowing kush in bitches faces etc, etc.

That's why I like country too. Especially older country. The songs tell tales. "Talks story". Like a good song should...
