Caldera based seed sexing

I just planted 4 after sorting a couple dozen prospects.

No tiger stripes, more brindle like, speckled.

I'm glad I sorted because there were a couple that had split shells,
I need to get a better storage routine.

I'll post pics when they pop, and results at pre flower.

I saw this thread about a month ago & I swear I saw that picture in Mel Franks mj growers guide...
Anyway... I never really paid any attention to it... just popped seeds for a few years...

I've soaked a couple seeds and thought I may as well play... this is easy enough to do... just takes a few more minutes to document what your doing.
I started w 19 of my Blue Moonshine #1 F2s, 9m/10f.
12 Blue Moonshine #2, 6each
8 Green Crack x Vitality, 5m/3f
8 Bubbaberry 3m/5f

I've lost a couple Blue Moonshine & a Bubbaberry but all are labeled in their own containers about 3 weeks since popped. They'll be flipped to 12/12 soon so I expect to be able to report some results I the next few weeks.

Howdy folks.

I finally have some fairly solid results on the seed sexing.
Didn't want to bore the masses with BS.

So anyway, I planted 30 of my Nocturnal line, selected for females about 6-7 weeks ago.
I also planted 5 of my Halo 2x, selected for males for my Halo 3x future breeding.

The reason for selecting females and males was primarily for better unbiased results.
There is so much hearsay in the craft, and sometimes, actually many arguments are started over hearsay.

I'll start with 2 sets of pics of the nocturnal run before I destroyed the males.

Nocturnal seed sexing run continued

So in conclusion, out of 30 nocturnals planted, 29 grew.
From the 29 grown, 20 are confirmed females, 7 males, and 2 that are not confirmed either way.

If only 20 females are confirmed, that gives a 69% female rate.
If I get another female, then 72% is the actual %.
From the hundreds of seeds grown in my grow career, this is a very high average.
50% is the standard for the last 33 yrs of seed planting.

Halo 2x male selection continued:

The Halo 2x phase was to pick the opposite of the clean perfect calderas.
I picked the raggiest looking of the bunch x 5 seeds.
The results were inconclusive and disappointing.

These are 2 beautiful females of the 5 seeds.

This is the best male of the bunch.
Already throwing many future pollen sacs, biggest and fastest of the bunch.
This is my breeder for my Halo 3x.

These 2 are going to my worm bins with all the other males tossed.

In conclusion to this limited test.
Sexing for males with this system is without true merit.
3 males out of 5 seeds are within the laws of average.

I will continue using the sexing technique for my females.
Didn't take too much time to sex, compared to the work and cost of raising unwanted males.

There you have it.

suks for you bro. 50/50. But you knew that going in.

I hope you get the results you want, all kidding aside.

3 of 4 of mine have sprouted and will post results asap.

I chose for females, natch.

Very cool post. Props to you and your friends for testing it! Might be useful someday especially if I ever produce my own seeds.
Right now just buying a 10 pack and popping one seed isn't practical for me. I know there are at least 2-3 more females in there and I don't have money to buy a few more packs.
Do you ever wonder what you're missing out on? That awesome keeper pheno might be in those imperfect seeds.

Do you have supporting material or cited references as to who tested this and their results? I would certainly be interested in actual scientific reports or findings....

"Peer review... or it didn't happen"

>> My thoughts exactly, we're all waiting for the proof this method is valid- show your work!

Shall I disprove God and creationism while I'm at it?

Believers of both refuse to accept to the ample evidence that is available them, because their faith compels them to. It's impossible to prove something doesn't exist or doesn't work; on the other hand it's very easy to prove that it does work. Therefor, the onus of proof lies with those claiming the method is valid.

This 'poster' has popped up online many times over the past 15+ years on these cannabis forums, and every time a group runs around telling everyone the technique works for sexing plants from seed, yet after months/years of waiting for the simple proof from the groups claiming it works, it never materializes. Yes, that's right... this isn't new.

Readers should understand that the seed coat of the achene is pert of the maternal tissue, not part of the embryo/individual developing within, and as such is not affected or influenced by the gender of the developing embryo. It's kind of like saying that babies that are positioned high in the womb are boys and those that are positioned low are girls- yes this too is also false, and old-wives tale.

This 'Caldera based' sexing method is a crock, but of course don't allow my words to discourage from your faith- test it out for yourself on a population of 30 seeds, you'll see for yourself it simply doesn't work.
