Broad mites

Hello new to site and dealing with broad mites. Got a lot of good info from storm shadow and retro grow. Plan on heat treatment in room for mites. Plants are small and in 2 and 3 inch pots and have been sprayed with forbid twice last spray was 3 days ago. Wondering if safe to put in heat after spray of forbid?

If plants are that small, and you've already treated with Forbid, you have to be careful of phytotoxicity, which some strains are prone to.

While Forbid should knock out most of mites on plants, there are still mites in the room, which is why you should heat treat the room, without the plants in it. This will kill any mites in the room, and if they were on your plants, they are guaranteed to be in the room.
Then keep scoping your plants every day looking for eggs on the undersides of leaves. As long as you keep scoping and stay on top of it, you should be O.K., but BMs have a way of surviving in your environment, and coming back. They can be anywhere in your house, on your clothing, etc.

If they are 2-3 inch seedlings or just everyday clones you bought you should just get rid of them.

If they are rare or hard to get elite clones that you can not replace then you should try to save them. You will have a war on your hands but you can win.

if you keep being re infested theres most likely a nearby source.

Yeah, the grow room the plants are in, the ventilation ducts that they get into, the clothes you were wearing when you handled the plants, the shoes you were wearing when you went into the dispensary where you bought the clones, the car you transported them in, etc., etc., etc.......never assume they are gone, because they are not.

I thought you already did chem treatments? Keep scoping your plants daily. That is the only way to know what you are dealing with. As I already posted, you should heat treat the room with no plants in it for now, just to eliminate any mites in the room. Then stay on top of it and scope daily. Check undersides of leaves for eggs. You do have a 100X scope, right? And post some pictures if you can.

I found one of these for $150(no tax, free shipping) on the net: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=917595&Q=&is=REG&A=details pc/mac compatible, works good, but the controls are a little fiddly for my calloused fingers. Looks like it's $155 now. I'd advise you to spend the money on some avid instead. You'll make super bm's if you just use forbid. FWIW, I was able to clearly see eggs and dead adults(after spraying) with a cheap handheld I've had for years: http://www.420science.com/420-Scope

Don't get overly paranoid and spend needless $$... avid and forbid will work. Rotate them a few times in veg(7 day intervals). Heat treat your space in between runs if you're really worried.

Don't deal with clone merchants. If you must, dunk the cuts in a 1ml/gal forbid mixture before introducing them to your space, and follow it with dunking in 1ml/gal avid 5 days later.

I haven't sprayed in over 2 months...no sign of the bm's I unwittingly had for over a year. Once you know what to look for, the visible signs of bm's are pretty obvious.

Good luck to you.

Did you miss this question or just didn't want to even deal with it?

30X not strong enough. You can get a $10 one that is 100X at Radio shack & Amazon. Amazon also has lots of other scopes that hook up to your computer. They have cameras built in. You can get one of those for around $100, or you can spend more. Depends on your budget. But the $10 ones work. How do you know you have them if you only have 30X scope? Don't worry about putting pictures up if you don't have the equipment. But get at least the cheap scope for $10 so you know if you have them or not. That's the only way you can be sure.

Same one @ Radio shack for $10.

i have been experiencing the symptoms for a couple years. everything mentioned on this thread i have had. this time was the worst 10% of garden lost do to brown airy worthless flowers. my leaves always start to yellow at about 5 or 6 weeks then get crispy dead very fast. At first i thought it calmag def. then tmv. then bm. i stopped worrying about it for awhile because i do well with amazing flowers regardless of leaf damage. after losing 10% i need to solve this. Thanks for scope info. hint radio shack today.
