big plants, how far to push ppm

i'm used to flowering plants when they are about a foot tall and this crop i veg'd toward 3'. i used to do amended organic soil with tea so working with coco and bottled nutrients is kind of new to me.

right now the girls are 4'-5', into their 4th week flowering and i'm feeding 1300 ppm every watering and it just isn't enough. bud sites are still nice and green but the fan leaves are being sucked dry. most of them are yellowing or have already fallen off. i upped the nitrogen and calcium/magnesium and it still isn't enough.

how high can i go before over-feeding?

imho I would up the nutes slowly the plants will tell you when they are full..
btw what nutes are you using? maybe there is a nute feed chart?

thanks for the input! i'm using the general organics grow, bloom, biobud, and calmag and i'm already at twice the recommended schedule for week 4. it could be that sage n sour and bubba kush at this size are just hogs lol. i guess today i'll push it up to 1400 with a little extra nitrogen and see how that goes.

I agree with cleangame, I have never seen bigger plants eat more than smaller plants (more volume of solution yes, but not a higher ec solution)

I have no experience with General organics though.

That general organics kit is best when used in amended medium. Pure coco isn't the ideal choice, but I'd probably keep the 1/4 or 1/2 dose steady until I saw signs of deficiencies, then dial up appropriately.

sounds good. next watering i'll check runoff, back off the nitrogen and keep it at a minimum for the next few weeks. hopefully things balance out and the older growth stops dying off. last time that happened due to pH problems, the trichomes never went beyond like 25% cloudy even at 12 weeks on a 9 week strain.

might just go back to amended soil mix...coco has it's ups but i think i prefer a medium that can feed as much as a plant needs without constantly having to water in nutrient solution.

"The pH of the coco medium should be tested as well. Unlike with soil, checking the pH in the root zone by testing runoff is not very telling with coco, because the elements that bind to coco may not be at the same concentration in runoff as they are in the root zone.

To test the pH levels your plants’ roots are dealing with, take about a 1-ounce sample of moist – not dripping wet — coco out of a container, stir it with 2.5 ounces of distilled water and measure the pH after the mixture has rested for about 20 minutes."

It is an amazing media, huge benefits, but at the end of the day you have to do what fits your situation best.
