Moldy Leaves

Threw a bunch of leaves in a bucket, loosely, and after three days of overturning them, once a day, there was powdery mold.

Is that powdery mildew, or something else? Anyone have any links to what it looks like?

Thanks!

Then there was to much humidity somehow dude...Even with "Loosely" spacing them...cuz you wouldn't have had mold form from any other way...if you got ANY mold you don't wanna use them for hash making...Sry bout ur luck if they were your "Sugar Leaves".

Does powdery mildew form on freshly cut leaves, within days at 70% humidity?

at 70% humidity???!!! Ummm....Yea??? Mold very easily can form that way. Even when curing bud you NEVER want your jar humidity to breech 65% as it can lead to molding. Aim for getting a balance humidity of (60-62% in your jars at least) when curing. But yeah dude....70% will cause molding of your bagged/bucketed leaves within days... were they your sugar leaves?

I dry my leaves so that they are all not over piled on top of each other. You don't want the leaves to be higher than a few inches. Paper is better to dry on than plastic. Also you should place a fan to blow on them as well. Turn the leaves at least once a day.

Your room may be 70% but your space inside the bucket containing the leaves may be be over 70%. It's all about air flow.

I have ruined bud in the past, thinking it was dry, but not opening everyday. Learned that the hard way.

This is sun leaves, trim leaf, and stalks, for BHO run. Want to try that before going to bud.

It was probably no where near 70%, but that would have been worse case. That was a month ago, and house is 25% now, due to crappy winter. Should have used paper bags. Had fan in room, but not pointed at it.

Saw someone said that rinsing it through hash bags will get rid of mold, and trap trichomes. Will probably try that, then BHO run, then winterize. If black light shows contams, will try 2 micron syringe filter. Will post results, but I do not rush things, so may be a week or so.
