DIY Extraction Tube Progress/Questions

I had an unused shower curtain rod around and decided to try and make an extraction tube.

So far I only make QWISO. I want to try BHO but am not into explosions. I want to make sure I eliminate as much user error as possible before I go for it.

I think the rod is stainless steel. Its pretty rigid and the stainless part makes sense in bathroom applications. It cuts with a hacksaw but feels tough.

I dont know how to tell for sure. There is no packaging or markings on it. I cant think of what else it would be though.

The unit is made of 2 lengths of tune. One fits inside the other and there are rubber caps on the end. I used the 1" section, cut it to 12" and clamped a screen & coffee filter on.

The screen is from an old window. I think its aluminum. It was really just for mock up purposes. I suppose I could leave it but I dont know if aluminum reacts with butane yet. .

I have nightmares about an end blowing off and rippping my face off. Or shooting through the neighbors house and lodging in their kids eye.

The shower rod came with a plastic cap on the end. It even has a hole in it. The hole is too big as is but I could fit an adapter pretty easily.

How secure should the top cap be? Seems that the bottom is less likely to blow out since I see people securing it with rubber bands.

A couple pics so far.

People are having great success using parts from glaciertanks to make extraction tubes that don't involve painted tubes (probably not the best idea) google 'Easy, safe DIY extraction tube.' for more info.

Remember you are using SOLVENTS!!!!! Please only use glass or approved grade metals. There is much more science going on than blowing a can through a tube!!
