A question about shooting powder/koolbloom

the one and only time I broke the 1gpw mark, I fed 6mla&b 2ml protekt and 1ml drip clean. the ec was 1.0 the entire grow.

So are you running just a+b, protekt , and drip clean? No hardener? I assume you're using RO water(I do). What about ca/mg? I was running calimagic until several people pointed out that h&g cocos is 12% Ca. I dropped the calimagic, and now add 1g/gal epsoms for the mg. This brought my ppm's down ~200 compared to the calimagic and seems to work fine.

You mix the nutes fresh, or maintain a res?

I haven't completely stopped using moab. I use it some grows. I dont use it in the ppk. I do use a little Epsom, but not always. I have 40-100 gal reservoirs, the ph is super stable. it doesn't really move from when I st it at 5.8-6.0. I use tap water with a pretty low ec.. it barely reads on my truncheon.

Thanks otis.

Must be nice to have clean tap, mine comes out at 1.0ec. Maybe I should just use it? Just kidding.

I keep seeing "ppk", but I don't know anything about it.

Daily = 1 time per day.

I have a job and a girlfriend. Ain't nobody got time for that multiple watering.

Understood. I sometimes find every other day to be a chore:biggrin:
I'd need bigger plants or smaller pots to require daily watering. What size plants are you growing in these 1&2 gal pots? How tall? Typical finished dry weight?

Are you happy with the KB results? When do you start with it? You seem to be in the 2 week flush camp too. My strains are only 8 weekers, I'm afraid yield will suffer if I don't feed for 2 weeks.
i start KB when i see pre flowers. its Fuckin awesome really 1/4 teaspoon per gallon, it doesnt get much more concentrated than that. always flush for as long as possible. most 8 week strains you can push another week or so if you need to, and i would try if i where you. yield wont suffer if they are truely 8 week strains they shouldnt need any more ferts, and they will start to suck the leafs dry of there stored nuts. you want that plant starving come harvest so your smoke isnt harsh

I'm not quite sure I understand. I see preflowers on most of my plants in veg. I agree that the kb is good stuff. In the past, I've substituted it for shooting powder at 1.5g/gal feeding by the h&g charts(mostly), and had good results(better than sp).

I am in Canna Coco running base A & B nutes, Rhizo, Cannazyme, PK 13/14, Bud XL, silica and sometimes a touch of CaliMagic. I have a bag of KB and am getting ready to use it but I was questioning my timing. I certainly wouldn't use it from the time I see pre flowers. Maybe the liquid KB early on in place of PK 13/14.

I've read, "Powder is recommended at 1/4 tspn per gal. I used 4tspns week 6 and 8 tspns week 7 in a 40 gal res. be careful with the powder."

"I use 1/3 to 1/2 strength in last 3 weeks"

I'm on day 39 and feeding with a res, drip clean and Blumats. I want to flush for at lease a week but I am running new great that is supposed to be 60-70 day strains. So that is my unknown I suppose. Does it make sense to add dry KB in the next few days for a week to 10 days - 1/4 tsp after lowering my EC? EC is currently 2.0 - 2.1

you know when you put them in the budder and they get there stretch on, well right after when i notice the plant start to halt and the buds start to swell a bit...thats when the plants need it, and dont need much nitrogen after that point

Now I understand.

I believe you should use the KB liquid(0-10-10) in early flower(start of budset), and use the powder(2-45-28) for the last few weeks. The liquid is a bulking formula, and the powder is a ripening formula.

GH says to flush kb for 1 week. If you still have time, give them a shot or two. Lower your ec, it's powerful stuff. I'll cut my base the 1/2 strength when I start with kb. I'll go to flush 10 days before harvest.

ya i don't do every thing the bottles say.... i don't use liquid at all... allot of companies have products out just so they can sell them is my reasoning...
i don't think there is anything but phosphorus and potassium in liquid KB....http://generalhydroponics.com/site/gh/docs/prod_labels/liquid_koolbloom.pdf
this says you would use it for the hole flowering cycle.
i use maxibloom and maxigrow for veg 3/1 and i use maxibloom and KB dry for flower
http://media.hydroponics.net/item-documents/General%20Hydroponics/ProductLabels/maxibloom_1.5lb.pdf
i do believe that is has enough P K in it to last till i use KB dry
