Sounds like one of the standard commercial strains grown down there nowadays--might be pretty decent. Grow it out :)

Once a bro got some seeds out of buds he had in JA, he brought them back. he grew them, and find a killer plant, he called her the Red. He lost her. Was dank tight nuggets full of trich, almost red.

I wish u to get as lucky as him and get the keeper.

like I needed a reason to dream harder. Lol.

Awesome info guys, I mean we all are indoctrinated with the Jamaican weed lore. Oh the possibilities. : )

Nowadays it's mainly modern hybrids grown down there--some have some old school local genetics in the mix, intentionally or not. If it's a skunk then its likely to be a product of either US or Dutch genetics that were introduced to the island, but you could end up with really great smoke from the plants when done right and not harvested ASAP as them boys in JA are often likely to do.

Just out of curiosity, what did the beans run you?

Why mess around when you can get legit pure Jamaica Blue Mountain (compact 14 weeker for indoors) or even a Blue Mountain X Lamsbread cross? This is probably the only way to grow some real oldschool Jamaican strains nowadays, unfortunately in Jamaica (like anywhere in the world) the few good herb and stuff that may remain is not for the tourists.

Peace.

I agree with the man above--I hope one day to be able to run a pure, old school Jamaican strain, especially the lambsbread! ;) The skunk should be significantly easier indoors though! lol

I remember those pictures on OG from Mascobelix, Mustafunk, what a beautiful terrace grow. Man how time she fly!

Friends just got back from two weeks in Negril and said the herb was trash. Go for some Real Ja. strains like Musta said CBG Jamaica Blue Mt. or JahGreenLable Double Jam with real Lambs Bread added to the JBM, these are, De REAL TING MON! Irie!

I got gifted some pineapple skunk, it won the first Jamaican cannabis cup. My friends brought some seeds back and they are very very nice weed. pretty colors and interesting sniffers, likes to eat in veg not so much in flower. It reminds me of some of the hand drawn pictures in Robert Connell Clarke's book marijuana botany .

Subscribed! Can't wait to see how the Skunks turn out. Jam Skunk x NL sounds good to me!

I'm growing a pure Skunk 1 from Seedsman (which I believe goes back to Positronics days) for the second time (clone). It is fruity, sweet and extremely resinous...I get trichs all over my fingers if I try to break it up by hand! While it's not as much fun to trim as my Indica-dominant strains (more leaf than I'd like), it's great smoke.

Haha well I've inadvertently created the rasta skunk grow thread then? I'm good with that. For anyone who is interested, and hasn't seen my main grow thread, I'm doing an organic soilless mix, LC's. What best to use to get closer to Jah. Got some GC, OG kush, and some other assorted stuff.

I'm narrowing down phenos mainly for a large op I'm going to get started with a good friend of mine, 10k+

Will be under T5's through sexual maturity, then a halide T5 mix, then hps for flower.

Waiting to pop one of the NL or NYCD crosses, I want to get to know the original first. :shrugs:

Technically many real rastas would avoid animal products in their grows, so no blood and bone for one. ;) Rastafarianism borrowed heavily from Shaivism (Shiva worship in Hinduism) during its inception, since the Africans and Indians were working the plantations together under British rule in Jamaica.

I think getting to know the Jam Skunk (if it isn't just a skunk hybrid that was brought across from North, East or South (Colombia), with no 'Jamaican' genes to speak of) is a worthwhile endeavor for sure. Even if it is an imported hybrid, there is a possibility it got hit with some local sativa pollen, although I believe those pure sativas are hard to find nowadays...check out the Strainhunters Jamaica vid on Youtube for a look at the scene today.

EDIT: after watching the vid, it seems highly possible that it has some old school genetics in the mix. The skunk should make it much easier to run indoors. It'll be a nice taste of Jamaica for sure.

Ha. Thanks for the tidbit. Always been one to pick and choose my teachings. :) ah well I feel better w/o using chemicals anyways. Going to watch that YouTube vid now. Will update thread with that plant specifically.

Jamaican bagseed from a few years back. She's definitely on the heavy side of the spectrum but she holds her own against anything in my garden...
