Quantum ballast failure

Hey doods

Just a heads up...to anyone considering buying quantum ballasts....steer clear. I had a 600w just stop working on me within 2 years after purchase.

The warranties are crap due to the bankruptcy of R&M...and luckily my hydro store friend was nice enough to do me a solid since I didnt even purchase the thing from him.

My Hydrofarm Xtrasun mags are doing just fine. I may have to try their phantom digi ballasts in the future.

Not bashing here...just wanted to make you aware...in case you are thinking of purchasing a Quantum. I had recommended them in the past...and I will not be recommending them in the future.

Thanks

Did you check the fuse? Replaced my fuse after a problem and mine is running great now for the third grow. 400 watt adjustable.

Couldn't get in to the fuse. Just brought it in to the shop and got a loaner for the time being.

I doubt many digital ballasts will last over 5 years with normal use. I've had a lumatek 600 and 1000 crap out, a galaxy 1k, and a future sun 1k. All withing 5 years. I know the lumis are under the pro rated warranty.

I have also had 2 of my mag ballasts crap out but they just needed a cap.

check fuse on a eballast when it goes out,
if you don't have an external fuse, open up the ballast and see if there's one in it.
I bet countless e ballasts have been ditched because the fuse is inside and was never checked

I will do that. I don't recall seeing fuses but breakers on the lumitek. The 1k trips the breaker on the outlet. The future brite doesn't. We'll have to crack em open.

if the outlet is being tripped by the ballast... not good
when i started indoor stuff i bought these cheepo ebay ballasts,
they all had external fuses and came with a spare.
1st 2 ballasts crapped out in 12 then 13 months.
the fuse/holders actually melted down.
i bought 2 more that were air cooled and seemed better built and the same thing happened a year and a half down the road
