It's been a full week and I'm healing I understand life goes on and that many here have had similar experiences It's very important to me that a friend as special as Sarah get's the honor that she deserves.......I cared for her well and she was very happy and knew she was loved so she reciprocated....She had a full, good life and brightened mine in ways that you can't really qualify in words.....She was everything you could hope for in a cat and so much more......I would like to thank everyone again for their kind words and encouraging posts like I said It's very important that she is honored in a big way that she deserves regardless of how much of a sad sap it makes me look like......a few more pic's to share and then I'll probably just leave it be and grieve in silence. Thanks again for allowing me to open my heart without fear of ridicule it really does mean a lot !

I feel your loss George.. I lost my cat of ten years 2 weeks ago.. I let it out for a hour when I got back found it dead in back yard..dogs got him off my porch.. My home security cameras showed three dogs come on my porch and get him.. Now I wait for the dogs.. We miss our moe moe(cats name). I got some buck shot with those dogs name on it..
I'm sure you think about him just as I do.. Doing things around the house just don't seem the same.. Just remember at least you were able to experience good times and memories ,all that was a gift and something u will always have..

You know it won't last forever when you adopt a pet. It doesn't make it any easier when you lose them. I know what you're going through.

I adopted two kittens 14 years ago when I got my first place on my own out of college. Delilah and Pandora. Delilah shared my bed with me for 14 years, longer than any woman I've been with. Lol. I found out a couple weeks ago she had late stage lung cancer. She died last Wednesday. A tumor in her throat had made it impossible for her to swallow, and she was struggling just to breathe that last day.

I held her in my lap on my living room couch while the vet gave her the injections to end her life. I felt her stop breathing, felt her heart stop beating. 5 minutes later she was already cold. I wrapped her in a blanket and carried her out to the vet's car, knowing I'd never see her again. One of those moments in life you never forget. I still keep expecting to see her when I wake up or when I get home from work.

Nice looking friend you have there! Sorry she has passed. I had two dogs myself and had to give them to a friend when I moved to Europe. I think animals fill a special void in our life that sometimes other people just cant. I felt physically healthier when I had my dogs waiting for me after a long day of work. You will always have the memories and the pictures. If she had any kittens you can always try to get one, its not the same but it can sometimes help. I had buddies do that with dogs.

My cat died just over 10 years ago, looked a lot like yours especially the 1st pic. 20 years old? I thought my cat did well living to 15! She was a really smart and affectionate cat, and despite her small size was full of spunk and even racoons would back down against her. She was mostly an outdoor cat, and towards the end was losing her appetite and balance. She wandered off right before a snowstorm and extreme cold period and never saw her since. So believe me, I can feel your loss as I was closer to her than anyone else.

@ GWB- Similarly....my gata was nearly 21 when she died (while we were watching the JFK news special around Nov. 22nd this past year) ....almost 1/3 of my life she spent with us. Sage had a good, long life.

You're heart will probably ache for quite a while when you do not hear those familiar meows in the morning, or other antics. I still think I'll hear the 'good morning' meow and purring circling my leg as I prepared her wet tid bits. Empty sounds instead.

Feeling your sadness....wishing you strength.

I almost shed a tear myself. I'm so sorry for your loss. My pug is 15 and I'm enjoying him for our limited time left. I can't imagine how you feel.

Ahhhh, pugs are precious!! Yes, enjoy them, as with all our animal family. And thanks to those adopting rescue animals!! Hopefully, that will make "Sara" know she's sooo loved...knowing her other pet peers are taken care of and loved.

We make family with our loved ones. Not sure what I would do without my wonderful kittybabies . Bless them all, we surely need them more than they do us !
