I have recently mixed up a batch of this soil using the best replacements I could find. As a disclaimer I haven't used any of it yet so I hope its not too hot but I'll know in a couple weeks

Recipe 8- Large bags Organic potting soil (Roots Organic) (i used Niks Mix)
25 pounds Organic Worm castings
5 pounds Bone meal
5 pounds Bloom bat Guano
5 pounds Blood meal
¾ cup Epson salts
1 Cup Sweet Lime (Powdered) e.g dolomite
1 Cup Azomite (Trace Elements)
2- TBS Powdered Humic Acid

I used Niks Mix as a base. Has the same Coco base as roots with similar additives. Buy it or find closest distributor from Niks Mix

Worm Castings: Cheapest source I could find Scrap Ltd.
Apparently highest quality fairly expensive though Wormtec

Blood and Bone meal is available from Bunnings and most gardening centres. Try get a pure blood and bone meal not one with added potash etc

Dolomite Lime is the same as above

Fulvic and Humic acid powder at NTS

The only source I could find for powdered Guano is also NTS

I added Kelp Meal, as its in Roots but not Niks mix. It's available from a couple sources, but varies in price greatly Wormtec is expensive but sells smaller amounts
NTS about $70 for 25kg
Urban Gardener Shop is more expensive, but has a range of other products, like worm castings diatomaceous earth hydro equipment etc

Azomite can be found at Living Apartment but from what I gather you can use a volcanic rock dust product such as at Urban gardener shop volcanic rock dust

Any questions just ask. Happy growing!

nice stuff mate, i think you've hit the nail on the head, and hopefully it's a great mix :D mmm guano seems to be a real pain to get here in aus as it comes from overseas and is thus pretty exp, i'm yet to try it out, from what i've read and heard it's well worth it though. i'll have to put some money together in the near future and unleash on these things to make up a similar soil and compare to previous stuff i've grown with :D cheers mate

the trouble with guanno in oz is geting it through customs, you can only get the mineralized type . AQIS stop importation of organic nutriants some time ago . can be cheap if you source it bulk .http://www.guano.com.au/
newgrow: welcome and keep us updated thanks

nice.

The scrapd stuff is that still the bagged wormway castings from bookham . Its pretty good for the price.

The nicks mix link doesn't work. Where else is nicks mix available. The only place i have ever seen it was h20horticulture over manly (NSW) way but their website and ebay site seems kaput. Was very expensive.

Just saw that its an old thread. Bugger.

Talk about resurrecting a old dead and buried thread :D
You probably won't get an answer from the OP as he hasn't posted since this thread was made and I don't know many Aussies who work in gallons either, you will have to make up a similar mix yourself UpInTheHills and see what you end up with mate

Has anybody had any luck getting neem cake anywhere in Oz? I'm into organics and neem cake is a must have. Unfortunately I can't find anyone that sells it here other than in huge bulk orders.
