Englishrick - Breeding is science and luck not imagination . A feminized back cross isn't the path. The charts and graphs have been posted. Take it to S2 , make parallel lines, recombine ..Keep all the pieces and go back if necessary.

I agree, increasing the inbreeding coefficients by going to S2 and then using recombinant parallel lines while keeping the pices for possible fixes is a fantastic idea

But what's the problem with a reversed backcross, you will still have all the pices?,

Without imagination science is a dictionary, reality leaves a lot to the imagination, Imagination is everything. Imagination is the preview of life's coming attractions. Logic will get you from A to Z, imagination will get you everywhere. If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.

That the Gorilla glue was actually an accidental intersexual pollination :)

Just write out the combination table for an S1 crossed back on to a parent.

Hopefully you treated them as if they did have broad mites.

And russet mites and powdery mildew and root aphids, spider mites and thrips and everything else you could think of. Grabbing clones in Cali, or anywhere really, is a risk you should be prepared for.

This is always solid advice. If anyone is trying the 110 degree water dip at 15-20 minutes for broad mite control, it is quite important to not get that water into the 113-115 degree range. I did one at 110 that's fine but the ones at 113-115 won't be back. 120 degree air for 1 hour will do the same thing, that is what I plan on doing every 7-10 days to kill any possible broad mites throughout a grow. I have avid and forbid but would rather not use it. I have not identified broad mites on any plants, but it should be an expected pest even with precautions taken. At least high temps kill them.

hey ec, i ain't mad at ya.

just so everyone knows, he and i both had our rooms wrecked by the same unscrupulous clone vendor in our neck of the woods, so i both empathize with his paranoia and share his zeal for cleanliness. thems little fuckers are no joke.

hopefully, one day in the future when our thing goes full legit, we'll be able to form a voluntary trade organization that certifies both our nursery stock and our flowers, so as to distinguish those of us who claim our game is on the next level and are willing to put our money up to prove it from the cartel and triad houses that run on slave labor, stolen electricity, daminozide and eagle 20 (or whatever the natty ice equivalent is once anheuser busch and phillip morris are in the game). that way flower afficionados, genuinely ill patients, and hobby growers alike can have a little peace of mind that's backed up with empirical data so they understand why these cuts aren't $5 a piece and the flowers aren't $1500 a unit.

even then, no grower worth his weight in mineral salts would EVER introduce outside stock until it has been quarantined for a good 3-4 weeks and he can personally attest that it it's free of creepy crawlies, fuzzy-wuzzies, and chompy womps. it's pretty standard best practices for any horticulture biz. once we all have to hold licenses to sell nursery stock, handle pesticides, and the 57 other ones we've got on the wall at mine and every other small flower nursery in the state.

to be clear though, there ain't no bugs on me. i got my ass kicked by the BM plague about 18 months ago, not because i ran a sloppy ass show or because i idn't know about quarantine practices, but because i had never heard about the damn things and they are INVISIBLE. that's handled now. been sorted out for better than a year. not only have the bugs been eradicated, but EVERY one of my strains has been flowered out since then to make sure it is dud free as well.

the biggest scourge we've had to contend with since then has been gnats. they come packaged in pretty much every major brand of medium and the larvae will play hell on your roots if you don't keep them in check. i always water with gnatrol, and everything on both sides gets hit with permethrin as a knockdown once every flower cycle. it's not perfect, but it's the best we can do to achieve that delicate balance that is necessary when both our stock and our produce are inventory: to manage to produce consumables that are safe and healthy for folks who may be contending with a compromised immune system, chemo/radiation, r, while still being able to pass off our genetics to fellow growers with a clear conscience that we have not carelessly infected anyone's garden.

in any case, we stand behind our stuff unequivocally. if you'e got any of our gear and there's a problem, do please get in touch with myself or JW and we will make it right. that's a promise.

I will have some OGM/GG#4 with me at the 2014 SF cup. I have spoken to BOG everything is set. He is going to let me share his booth. I will have at least 10 clones of gg#4. When I get all setup at his booth I will let BOG decide on witch to enter the GG#4 OR OGM. This is going to be fun, Never went to one. I have always been to sick to go. This time I will have enough meds in me to make it. If any are going look for the guy at BOG's booth in a chair with a cane that doesn't walk well. lol

Those that don't know I have Cancer so I will be heavily medicated.. See ya there
