Winter Olympics so refreshing

Just wanted to say how refreshing and inspiring I find the Olympics to be. From the look on the faces of the athletes as they walk into the opening ceremony to the acts of kindness like the coach from whatever country it was giving a new ski to the cross country skier from another country when he'd fallen and had a broken ski, or , whatever country it was that donated parts for the Jamaicans sled when their parts had gone missing on their flight, the winner of one of todays cross country races waiting around for over half an hour to congratulate the last place finisher, the storys go on and on, such a change from the ego stroked over paid celebrity sport pros we see on television through out the year here in the US. I love the Olympics!

I guess some are more memorable than others.... I liked the Lake Placid, the Torino and Innsbruck Olympics. Adding new competitions has certainly enlivened several sports. Changing the biathlon, extreme skiing to name a few. Good to watch. It's the commentators that are lackluster. I commend all the athlete's on their accomplishments regardless of medal honors. BRAVO!

There is something about the Winter Olympics that make me wish I had TiVo, so I wouldn't stay up so late watching it. It is so refreshing, as you say purplelorax. The kindness of people stretching across to others and sharing.

skeleton, luge and all those spins in air on a board or ski...amazing. I don't recall so many people falling, though. Watching them fall on snow (ice) and breaking helmets is rather disconcerting. I watch anyway. jpt

1988 Roy Jones Jr. literally almost killed a South Korean in the ring; they had to help him out of the ring! And they gave the Korean the Gold medal. After that, I decided that the Olympics are a joke!
