50ppm chlorine is really high isn't it?

I have been using .5 - 1.0 ppm

PH seems high too without knowing the system type

your pH is high enough that some nutrients are suffering absorption problems. purple stems, especially when they are intermittent or not universal on the plant, are a sign of poor absorption.

hydro pH should swing between 5.8 and 6.2, never below 5.5 or above 6.5. ideally you'd walk the pH from 5.8 slowly up to 6.2 over the course of a day, and then reset.

that's how I run my ph. Set to 5.8 and let drift up to 6.2 and reset. I only top off with plain ph water during week until res change.
