A list of coco that is good to use without washing it would be useful too... the last 2 times i got coco it was salty and the run off was about 1100 pps coming out. going in it was75 ppms @.5 conversion

Hey Camel.....Folks don`t realize that ALL coco as far as I know comes from Sri Lanka , and just packaged under different trademark names from all the different importers/manufacturers , so....

There`s really not gonna be a "list" of the saltiest products cuz there`s waaaaay too many companies , and they`re ALL eat up with salt since that`s where the harvested trees come from right on the beach , but how they`re processed by each individual manufacturer determines whether the shit gets washed before packaging or left to the grower as a "caveat emptor"/let the buyer beware process......IOW....

Don`t trust ANY products that aren`t pre-washed/fluffed/pre-charged/buffered like Canna , and then I`d STILL check the shit to be for sure certain of inherent ph and ppms/ec content....

There`s absolutely no standard in the industry from 1 manufacturer to another NOR consistency of product from brick to brick , bale to bale , hell even pallet to pallet in the same warehouse OR hydro shop....anyways...

Hope that helps....DHF....:ying:....

All true.

Besides, what defines salty? EC?

If you get a bag of b'cuzz and measure the run off, that'd be on the salty list. Doesn't mean it's bad for plants/seedlings, just that it's pre-fertilised.

Maybe the run off figures of a lot of coco would be high. Do you know if it's because of sodium or well balanced fertiliser?

No way to tell.

The only thing you need to know or ask when you're choosing coco is: what is a good brand.

I think everyone knows by now that you can't go far wrong with Canna. It's really not rocket science.

If people want to take risks on cheap shit from the pet shop, what list will help them make a better decision?

If the shit SAYS it`s "pre-washed/pre-charged and buffered" then it SHOULD be good to go.....but....

any EC/PPM`s in excess of 1.0/500 ppms is seriously subject to burning seedlings and or rooted cuts from the get....

Some strains can handle higher onset nutes , but more Sativa sided hybrids will burn the fuck up , shrivel and fall over dead...bet on it....

Good call Papa , but ALL bricked and baled shit that`s not pre-hydrated and is actually for growing and not pet/reptile bedding NEEDS checked thoroughly...

Peace...DHF....:ying:.....

Yep, I've always said it. Check your coco bales by hydrating a small amount, running through your checked water and testing it. Really if people want to avoid problems they know the script by now. The majority of problems people have always revolve around some corner being cut, complication made, or risk being taken.

Good coco, bottle of good plant food, ph 5.6-6.2, ec to 1.0... done.
Go outside that and you've got nobody to blame for anything going wrong but yo damn self....

So.... Canna it is i guess

See if your hydro shop does a "pepsi challenge" like mine.

Supposedly if I buy the Canna A & B they'll give me a free bag of Canna coco...or maybe it's if I buy a bag of Canna coco they'll give me free Canna A & B.

I'm going to call them in a bit to find out which it is.

More than likely it's buy the nutes and get the bag free.I have seen it at 3 different shops.I have not run any of their nutes but used the rhizotonic which is a good product but pricey.....like the rest of the line.

It's $27 for a liter set of A & B (I'm assuming it's a liter each of A & B).

The GH Floramicro goes locally for $16 a liter/quart and the Florabloom goes locally for $13...that's about $30 all together,so price seems about the same...now ratios of just A & B compared to 6/9 of Floramicro/Florabloom...I have no idea.

flora micro is $9 per litre and flora bloom is $7 a litre so you are getting ripped off. Let me guess: Worm's Way.

You sure you're not thinking pints instead of quarts/liters?

The only place I see Floramicro or Florabloom for anywhere near $7 a quart/liter is a hydroponics website, factor in shipping and well, there ya go.

No not Worms Way,never heard of them.

Save any dollar you can and put it into your ph pen fundage. You will be better off spending more on a ph pen than any nutes. That's what i would do but that's me.I went K.I.S.S when i purchased mine just so i could get some thing fairly decent. The oakton eco 2 has been good for me for close to 2 yrs......but i'm ocd about keeping it clean too.$50 or so online i think.Treat any thing the right way you'll get plenty of proper use out of it.

Oh I'm getting a pH pen next month (no fundage at the moment) but won't be buying a $50+ one, just an el cheapo that can be calibrated.

Only thinking of trying the pepsi challenge next month alongside some cuttings in FFOF (since it's what I know).
