I have a lots of conversations about this with a long term friend of mine who I've been smoking with for 25 years plus.We both smoked before we met too.Nowadays,I grow indoors,he grows outdoors and we make our own hash etc. When we discuss the weeds and hashes of yesteryear I often accuse him of looking back with rose tinted specs,I suspect that nowadays, having had regular access to bubblehash, very melty drysift, bho etc. all made from heady flowers that yesteryears product would be left on the table at the end of a party.

Doubtless there were special plants/crops which would come around and the differences in knowledge, cultivation technique, careful storage and extraction techniques that we have nowadays would have made amazing product from it,but much of what we were smoking as kids,in general, was rough..and also we were younger, with cleaner inexperienced THC receptors..

something like that anyway

Doesn't anyone still buy hash in the last couple of years I've seen a massive increase in quality import.
Saw some interesting Spanish green import other week seems green import is back aswell. Was good quality harvested perfectly

It hasn't gone it's still there in smaller quantities thanks to illegal imigrants we now have tight borders...... When it comes to import, unlike growing it's who ya know not what you know

The soap-bars that were about in the eighties were always of good/v.good quality, wasn't 'til the mid nineties that they became the shit we know today.

Still occasionally see good moroc about but never any affy, pak, ind, nep like was about in the eighties.

The 1st "Soap bar" I ever saw, was black, like what you get in the Eggs. Soap bar was a pressing style, they will press your 00 Atlas pollen up like that if you want.
I took my 1st toke in 92 at age 11 and hit the ground running, saw some fucking awesome hash, and then the quality really went pants in about 98 and weed took over. I mean there was always shit about. People diss the redseal now, but there was really nice redseal, and also adulterated wank. It's like anything, someone makes a product, and uses something to identify it as a quality item, it become popular, and so people make fake shit. Pills are another good example, someone makes a great batch of E's with lets say a smiley stamp....word goes out how good they are, suddenly every low grade lab is knocking out smileys. It's the same with hash. The nicest hash I had was some black that came in Kilo slabs, no markings at all.. the thinnest black layer outside and gorgeous golden brown inside, you break a bit off for the pipe and when you look at the piece 5 minutes later, the area you broke has already oxidised and gone black. Warm ears shit.
Even then though, my mates parents, who allowed us to smoke (they smoked) would go dreamy eyed talking about the red leb and the real quality pakistani/afghani, I know it wasn't as good when I was growing up as it was in the 70s/80s.
When ~i look at the price of those eggs and compare the product with the black, it makes me cry to think of what I used to get for 12 quid an eighth off the travellers over the back field:biggrin:
