20x26" Room...wanting Dual Ended Lighting

how would you guys setup a room that size if you could do anything you wanted to?

Im not really wanting the ballasts in the room so was gonna stay away from the Gavitas and ePapillions and go with something like the AC/DE or the Dual Ended Adjust a Wings.

Trying to get 9 4x8 tables in the room and do a Drain to Waste top fed coco.

How many lights could I realistically get in there doing a SOG type grow in beds or small pots on tables?

Thoughts?

Your info is kinda limited. Sealed room? What kind of cooling? With that size space, you could do a 20lighter. Commercial or residential?

I like the large aaw over 4x6 tables, 2per 1k all day. With de bulbs, that would kill it. I would split the room Into two 10x26 areas. You could stuff eight 4x6 trays, four on each side in each room, with a narrow walk way down the middle. That's maximizing! plus cooling would be easy with one 3 ton mini split per room.

Why split it? Just creates 2 climates when you could just use 1. We also plan to build 3 more rooms the same size by the time we are done.

4x6 tables, do you mean 4x8?

Im pretty sure you dont have to have the ballast right next to the reflector on the gavitas. Probably just swap a cord so you can use it remotely.

You do on Gavitas. they are attached. This is why we still want to go with Dual Ended HPS so we are gonna go with the new Adjust a Wing DE or the AC/DE by Sunlight supply. They allow more flexibility anyway.

You will be able to use less lights if you use the ePapillons and as long as you have the ceiling height, the ballasts in the rooms give off a very low amount of heat. The folks at ePapillon will even give you a custom light layout for your room to maximize efficiency and space.

i already went back and forth with this. Its better to use the Dual Ended HPS bulbs that ePapillion and Gavitas use but use them in an Adjust a Wing or AC/DE reflector so the ballasts can be placed OUTSIDE the room.

Why so vigorous on the ballasts being outside the room dude?

Epap consumes 1060 watts to produce 1000w of light. That is 60 watts of loss (extra heat without any benefit). That is pretty efficient.

Even at 20 or 30 fixtures the rooms environmental controls would not be taxed by 20 or 30 times 60 watts.. Small amount on that scale.

You must have a reason I am missing

Edit : sorry. I see DGS posted this info to u already. Nevermind .

Are you thinking that regular ballasts throw more heat than the ePap or Gavita ones do?

You`d probably have gotten more responses in "growroom designs and equipment" sub-forum Bro , but I`ll give you the particulars if you must use that specific sq ftg area sized room....

3-4x8 tables end to end gives you very little clearance at each end of the 26' spanned room , but it does afford 2' on each side of the 20' span with 3 sets of 3 tables for the 9 flood tables you`re talking about , and the tables are easily worked from the sides....now....

For optimum wattage per sq ft @ 50 watts per , said room requires 26000 watts , so if you ran 9 adjusta-wings sideways instead of end to end over each line of 3 tables (3 per table) , the footprint plus light overlap would be as close to perfect as possible , even with the extra 1K light using 27 (3 x 9) instead of 26 that`s needed for watts per sq ft coverage....and yeah....

Ballasts and all heat related equipment outside the grow area`s a good thing , including CO2 supplement for sealed areas , but it`ll need a Santa Fe dehuey or commercial size unit comparable to the Santa Fe even though you`re in a very low RH state , once in late bloomage when the plants are drinking their ass off and transpiring copious amounts of water vapor into the air.....anyways....

Hope that helps , and remember VPD/vapor pressure deficit issues all the way through end of stretch need to be addressed with RH kept at 70% till full swellage kicks in , and then lowering below 50% till end of cycle will make the plants explode and produce accordingly.....

Dialed environment and proper watts per sq ft mean everything when setting up bigger rooms , and the only thing left is dialing the strains you run and learning their nutrient requirements....

Peace....DHF....:ying:.....

Thanks man. Not sure why this thread was moved out of the growroom design section.

Hi Caravaggio - Cool name BTW! You wouldn't be into Baroque would you? ;)

Where I was coming from was that the fixtures are very efficient and the loss they have is inconsequential (typically) in a room designed to handle those ventilation needs. the extra 60 watts of heat per fixture (electricity usage with no "light" benefit) just didn't seem like a big deal to me. Not that you need my .02 and certainly didn't mean any disrespect. When perused some of the other threads I saw you received a reply so edited my post so as not to offend. So we is cool.

Now, I could be totally wrong too. no PHD's after my last name, I'm coarse and I rarely use silverware while eating (no need down here in the foggy lowlands where I dwell to impress anyone, so we eat with our feet.)

The Gavita does a remote ballast. I looked at those but decided against it as in my room I'm doing my best to limit EMI, since my lung room is also my studio for music.

oh, ya, nearly fergot - i wasn't trying to bring in any other type of fixtures so, nah, that is not what I was trying to say.

I think there are tons of excellent fixtures out there!! Not like in the '70s when I was younger and outdoors was pretty much it as far as we knew.

Thanks mate. We def decided to go against the ePaps. Can't even have the option of running them on a Flipbox which I believe is the most effective method.

I hear ya man. I'm not running a flip system. Just a single FR with a lung room. I am not in the same league as you tho bro. My small FR can only take so much light too ... I'm cool with just working for my own needs. That's all I want... and a place to play music.
