what yields the best.
skinnier or wider?
long or short?

which would yield better?
3" inch width by 2.5ft?
or
2""inch width by 1.5ft?

what's your opinions? and what do you use?

In a closed system, it makes less difference, but if you are talking about an open single pass system, the long skinny ones are more efficient. Our testing suggests that an inch ID is about optimum.

Smaller and they are too hard to pack and unpack and larger makes it harder to pack evenly enough that the butane doesn't find the easiest route through.

length is less of an issue, and like GW said, width does when top down blasting.

1" inner diameter. there is no optimal for lenth, but like was said, the longer skinny tubes are a pain to pack and empty. obviously the longer it is, the taller your system.

As GW said. For open loop/single pass extracting 1" I.D. to 1.5" I.D. is optimal. The longer the extraction tube the more material you can pack.

On a related note, does anyone know the minimum wall thickness required for machining?

I'd like to get a stainless tube and have the ends threaded for stainless caps. I figure a machine shop could drill the necessary holes in the caps and thread the ends. I'd like to make sure I buy something that can be machined.

Thanks
