600w is enaugh for that space, and better than cfls. If I had the option I would build a bigger space and go 2 x 600w hps or 1000w hps than add cfls. Another option would be to add a 400W MH in your space if you want a more complete spectrum, but 1000w in just over 1 sqare meter is overkill, and should be done only if you can cool it (no point to add light if the temperature gets out of the good range for plant growing) and after you get some experience.

To meny factors to take on board..

Hanging x2 150w red spec cfl at the sides ( or for under lighting)would be fine, more lumes is alway a good thing, plus you don't get alot of heat of them

As for plant and pots .how you growing??..trees,sog,Scrog ?

1 kola strain?....you mean 1 big bud yeh ,lollipoping...this is down to the growers skill and knowlede.I would work with a Indica leaning strain..what strain I hear you think mmmmmmm meny to chose from

Keep it green

I'd have to add a qualified 'yes'. Set it up and get the lights suspended so that they can be kept within 2-3"s of the tips.

If you get a bunch of stretch or color deficiency.... add a light.

I wouldn't personally use HID unless I also added provisions to remove the heat from the space. I grow with a T5 4', 8 tube, 432watt fixture, in a 28" X 48" booth.....and even that requires a bit of extra ventilation/heat extraction.

This fixture produces 40k lumens in 8 square feet. I've not personally done full run with CFLs, but it's all about the lumens. I once saw a 2'x3' CFL board that worked just fine as well. It used 16 100 watt equivalent CFLs. So actual wattage is 26watts X 16 bulbs, so it used a bit more wattage than my T5 fixture.... but cost a lot less to set up, using recycled fixtures mounted on OSB. It worked very well...FYI

As to size of Pots I use 3 gallon nursery pots. 2 or 3 in my booth, three is really crowded, so you need really good airflow, especially if you do 3, or the humidity will increase exponentially during their 'night'. I tried 2gallon pots one run, but it wasn't as productive as the 3 gallon runs. (Maybe too rootbound, too soon? Don't know.)

Height wise you need to plan for the height to at least double after you flip them. I SCROG mine so I can have a level field of bud when they are done stretching.

Last I looked you could pick up a Hydrofarm/Envirogrow fixture like mine, on Amazon for $190 delivered. Ask your local Hydrostore if they will match it, if you are interested.

Personally I wouldn't go with that much wattage in just two bulbs. I'd be looking toward 6 or 8 bulbs for a more even lighting, with less 'hot' spots.

Good God, losing my reading comprehension.... apparently. On re-reading your original post I see that you are speaking of Adding these to 600watts????

If you are having problems with growing the way you are set up. I'd suspect an overabundance of heat already. Don't think lumens are your problem.... if you even have one?

1.2 is only roughly 4' x 4'.
