off the shelf LED

So I have been doing research and finding thoughts.
So has anyone used "off the shelf" (Home-D-Pot, Wally World, lowed) leds to do a grow??
what type of mods were needed??
i read on another site about how one guy was doing it.
(i'll add a link to it if its ok)
Of course this is aimed at small space growers.
But they are getting a OZ plus with modified off the shelf leds in a small space grow.
For the small space D.I.Y er's this can save a ton of money with just a small bit of soldering needed.
So
Any one here doing it???

I only use off shelve LEDs as veg lights. Sometimes supplement flowering but I have a huge 500watt led light so it's kind of pointless. I say you could get a OZ of a couple of LED bulbs easy. Alaways go cree though.

As for mods I think they are fine by themselves you can have the bulb type lights up close too so you can get nice results.

I used 7-1 light adapter..used a mix of 2700k..3000k..and 5000k led screw in lights.. 1st grow ever..c99..3oz.one plant.with 150w (true watts..not equiv..).. 3 weeks to go on next c99..2 plants..using about 230w..i use clamp lights..not too hot...
