Hydroponic Bud Market Share vs Organic...

The masses will continue to smoke hydroponics. The majority of people who smoke don't care about the same things like many of us here at IC. It's just the sad truth. The masses would rather pay the cheapest price possible. It will be this way forever.

Not true I live in a legal state and people refuse to buy swag!

the medical scene in Oregon seems to prefer organic dirt. not only that but there is a running elitist attitude opposed to anything bottled that claims to be organic, but even those guys will usually admit to a splash of bottled nutrients when they need to correct an issue.

personally some of the best bud i've ever had was grown in hydro. i've had some outstanding organic dirt as well but it seems that without the right genetics and the right soil in the right environment, it just won't happen. especially outdoors/unlit greenhouses.

my gripe is that peat is still a staple. i had a pristine garden before bringing in some clones and now i have flies i figure came from a bag of promix that sat around outside. when i think medical, i think a near sterile environment, which is why i hepa filter the air coming inside and use coco that comes clean out of the bag/brick.

Depends on what part of the state u live in. Portland & Eugene is all indoor high grade whereas southern and rural oregon is full of outdoor which the collectives wont touch.

I'm still trying to find that magic recipe for that organic taste in dwc.

I've read that flavors in plants, fruits, vegetables is affected by...

- Ripeness
- Curing
- fructose and glucose levels
- organic acid content, total acidity
- volatile compound composition
- K and P
- Water quality
- I've even read that the wavelength of your lighting can affect smell and flavor in certain types of plants
- Other stuff??? Not sure

I have smoked great tasting hydro and great tasting organic soil. I have also smoked bad examples of both. I think it just comes down to the methods of the grower.

Hydro gets a bad rap, but there is actually such a thing as a hydroponic farmer that cares just as much about his product, and the surrounding environment as soil growers do. It can be done responsibly.

We don't all use dangerous chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, unproven plant growth regulators, high phosphorus levels, etc. I use the same thing soil growers use - NPK! and IPM! - I also use biofilters which keep my plants super healthy, and my systems pristine.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE growing in organic soil as well. I just prefer to do it outdoors in sun, wind, and rain. Indoors in an artificial environment I love the control that hydroponics give me.

Win/Win :dance013:
