I think if you wanted a way to start seedlings or small cuttings at the end of winter then yes the tent could provide some protection from insects, animals, and any last frosts. The tent would need to be clear or damn near to allow light transmission and to not draw attention. Kind of like a coldframe. But you would want to take it down as soon as your plants were a little bigger as eventually It would only draw attention. Long term use no way. Plus you would want to make sure you have flaps that open for air flow or cut holes into it. What is your intended use for it?

Its cause I live in an apartment but I have a small semi-fenced backyard with nothing behind me. I've had a plant somewhere back there but i think cats or border patrol killed it. There are sometimes people who will have a look thats why Iwanted a tent. I just wanted to grow a couple small plants. I don't see why it wont work. I read in jorge cervantes's book that it will grow with just a little section of light and airflow

only have bagseeds and my friend's plants never get more than a couple or 3 feet in full south texas sun.. i don't plan to make fancy soil or teas just organic MG and water and molasses maybe pick up a bottle of flowering food later

theoretically i could see that working, but probably too risky in an urban setting.save your money and get a small tent and a 125w cfl a 4 inch inline fan and 4x12 carbon filter, much easier to hide and usable year round.
the other bad thing about the tent idea is only a really expensive tent will actually withstand months on end of being set up outside.3-4 month of just sun exposure will destroy the fabric not to mention weathering and wind stress.a cheap walmart tent might last 2-3 weeks before it just fell apart.
a roll of shade cloth is pretty cheap though, and so are 2x4's.you can buy shade cloth that is more or less opaque but still lets 85% of the light through...

yeah they work here

a little too stuffy for flowering, the windows let in plenty of light, garage sales sell them cheap if they're missing poles. imo the best results are also from tying 3 gallon buckets in trees.

well i have some seeds in water for about a day... couple of white tails peeking out but not that big. I hope they grow cause they are from some dense lime green sativa from a couple years ago. IMO could be some Highland Oaxacan. Very good high was better than some purple reggie I had at the same time.

The seeds looked a little bit red. I have no lights for them yet and still a month of winter. We will have some sun tho so I will try to get them as much light as I can with outdoor and my fluoro tubes and cfls in the house.

little hobby plants yield about an oz down here from these seeds thats just with tapwater the whole way.... man if you knew the weed these seeds came from you'd like it.....

Chances are it would get very very hot in the summer and not let moisture escape very well (condensation). You would have mold for sure. However lots of dome tents have big semi-transparent mesh panels at the top to let light and air in. But I wouldn't ever try it, especially in a situation like yours, it will probably turn out bad.
