Snoop Dogg Visited By Firefighters After He Sets Off Smoke Alarm In Australian Hotel

It seems that Snoop smokes so much, in fact, that when he lit up in his Australian hotel room on Thursday night, enough smoke was created that firefighters rushed to investigate.

According to TMZ, police say "smoke from an unidentified source" triggered a fire alarm around 10 a.m., and firefighters who happened to be at the hotel rushed up to the room to investigate. They quickly discovered there was smoke but no fire. (Officials did not confirm if it was weed was involved.)

After it was established that there was no fire in the room, the rapper snapped some photos with the firefighters, which he posted to his Instagram account, captioned, "Fire dept Shut it down !!"

Snoop has become the new face of the marijuana culture. There are sure to be more bumps along the way.

Yeah, well, life under the spotlight would expose all of us as the imperfect beings we are. I have some problems with 'ol Snoop, too, but in general I find him to be a pretty funny fellow. Regarding this thread, the interesting part is that the fire dept got called to somebody's hotel room because there was so much weed smoke. That's the funny thing.

Actually, the fire department was already there...
I always thought they were pretty strict on weed over there though

Strict on cultivation but in most Australian states if you got busted for possession you's get fined and a warning, maybe have to attend drug counselling.
Firefighters have been called to a Melbourne hotel over a false alarm in the room of Big Day Out headliner Snoop Lion.

A Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokeswoman said firefighters responded after a smoke alarm went off at the city hotel where the US rapper was staying.

She would not comment on what may have set the alarm off.

But she did say South Melbourne firefighters Owen Sullivan, James Kemp and Trevor Bowen had not been expecting the towering performer to open the door.

Senior officer Bowen said meeting the rapper, in town to perform tonight at the Big Day Out at the Showgrounds, was “surreal” – although at first he did not know who he was.

“We received an automated alarm call to a Melbourne hotel and while we were there to investigate Snoop spoke to us,” Officer Bowen said.

“He was pretty funny, a really nice guy. If you didn’t know that he was someone famous you would just think he was a really nice guy.”

Officer Bowen said Snoop asked for a photo with the firefighters because he had “always wanted to be a firefighter”.

“After his entourage got photos we asked for a few with him, which he didn’t have a hassle with.

“It was really surreal, one of the highlights of a 26-year career.”

Snoop took to his Instagram account to post pictures of himself with the firefighters, which instantly sent the faces of Officer Bowen, Leading Firefighter Owen Sullivan and Firefighter James Kemp’s around the world to his 2.5 million followers.

Officer Bowen said the celebrity encounter was a highlight for the crew, although initially the meeting was a little awkward.

“I was initially speaking with one of his entourage and I hadn’t noticed Snoop. I said ‘What brings you guys to Melbourne?’ They said ‘We play in a band.’ I said ‘Sorry, I don’t get out that much’ and then I realised.

“It was funny, I said I’ve always wanted to come into a flash (hotel) room like this and party with the stars."

The MFB spokeswoman said it was the last thing the firefighters were expecting.

"It was obviously the last thing they were expecting when they were called to the incident and from all reports he was absolutely lovely," the spokeswoman said.

"He told them he had actually wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up."

Snoop Lion, formerly Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, made headlines this week when he posted a picture of himself in a Gold Coast hotel sitting next to a fruit platter and what appeared to be a large bowl of marijuana.

The January 21 picture was tagged "A Versace breakfast!"

In another image posted by the rapper during his stay in Australia he appears to be smoking a joint.

A failed change.org petition urging Immigration Minister Scott Morrison to revoke the US performer's visa before the Big Day Out attracted more than 4000 signatures.
