Rewired my 400w ballast and I dunno what to do with the green grounding wire? My dad had it screwed into the wooden wall which seems pretty retarded to me. Would love any advice from you electric heads so I don't esplode myself

connect to ballast housing. (other end of green wire is in plug that goes into wall outlet - if you are 110v )

its already connected to the ballast its not connected to the socket
It appears from your picture that you are talking about the lamp socket end of the circuit, so the ground will need to attach to the metal portion of the lamp holder (or the metal of the hood if you are using one). It looks like the end of the mounting screw holding the ceramic portion to the metal base is available - you can put the ground wire on there with a star washer and a nut and be in good shape. Those wire nuts up tight against the raw edge of that nipple aren't good - it can easily cut into the wire insulation over time, and you need something for strain relief. If the wires coming out of the socket are too short, they need to be replaced with high-temperature wire and crimp-on terminals inside the socket shell.
If you are talking about the end of the cord that plugs into the wall, the ground attaches to the u-shaped blade of the plug.

from the picture you posted:
once you attach the bulb socket into the reflector hood, just attach the ground wire to any screw on the metal reflector. If a screw on the reflector isn't close enough, just drill a small hole in the metal reflector and attach the green wire with a sheet metal screw.. Your purpose is to ground the metal fixture, NOT the light bulb.

That works for the ground, but your power leads need some work. Those screws on the right and left sides are going to be energized when the lamp is turned on - bad deal to leave them exposed. Is this going into a hood or are you planning on bare bulb?

I did it the cheap way. Get a metal work box and an appropriate face plate (they make 'em with a hole that's the perfect size for a mogul socket), and some type of strain relief. I just got those clamps that screw into the pop-out holes in the work socket and squeeze down on the cord.

like a fire waiting to happen ! Get a qualified electrician to wire that up. At the very least id swap them bullet connectors for a junction box.

hahaha yea, I just ended up using another lamp cord I had no need to risk it.
Surfguitar: If you do it like SmokinErb shows, the green wire from your elec. cord will be attached to the metal junction box.

Yeah, what Bud Green Sr. said - if you set up something like I did.... I put my ground wire around one of the screws in the corner that hold the plate on.
The leaves in the pots serve as a mulch... to be honest, its something I should do more of. Helps keep the top of the soil from drying out so fast for sure. Problem is, I don't defoliate enough leaf to mulch all my pots... really should find another good source of mulch.
