What's Going On With My Plants? (coco)

Just a little update: all the plants from that batch are doing great on the calmag/grow/rapid start combo, I transplanted them to .75 gallon pots and topped em for the first time, and already have roots pokin out the bottom of the pots 3 days after transplanting em...

on the other hand, the second batch I have been feeding the 6/9 micro/bloom formula at half strength for 11 days, and in the last 2 days the leaves have started drooping (they're on day 18).

so my question is, when do I start feeding them at full strength, and is there anything else I should be doing when running the heads formula?

This looks like ph and over watering. Cal / mag shouldn't be necessary if your coco was pre buffered. You using tap or another source of water ? And what's the ph / ec of your water ?

You should read the 6/9 threads linked earlier
its plain water for the first week
1/2 strength until they are about 10"
then full strength

Don't use calmag they said... it's unnecessary they said...

Here they are 3 days ago after transplanting em to the .75gal pots:

Within 2 days of transplanting already had roots pokin out of the bottom of their new containers:

On the other hand, the 2nd batch of these guys aren't doing so hot at the moment on the 6/6 regimen:

I'm guessing people are gonna say it's overwatering? Been feeding em 6/9 at half strength about once every 24 hours until 10-20% runoff. They were doing fine until about 2 days ago when the leaves started droopin down. Gave em just PHed water today.

Any thoughts on these new guys?

not even worried about the plants in the OP anymore.... they're doing fine. Using tap water PHed between 5.8-6.2.

I read through em before but all the info ends up kinda blending together in my mind because everybody seems to have a different opinion on how to do things... Appreciate guys like you stopping in to try and help out though :)

First week I fed em plain water...

Since then been runnin 6/9 @ half strength every 24ish hours (top soil is usually drying by then).

They arent overwatered
Looks like over fert again
First week they dont want any N
Id give them tap water(or 1/4 strength) for a few days and then go back to 1/2 strength until they are big enough for 6/9

Thanks for the response man. Should I PH the tap water to 5.8-6.2ish range I assume?

Ya ph the tap. Problem is that taps ph drifts drastically for the first 24hrs or so. I usually let my tap sit if Im going to use it for anything. Shouldnt harm anything though
Hopefully its somewhat soft water...
If not Id go with RO & 1/4 strength, like 100-150ppm(.2-.3EC)

And they're still right.

You're growing cannabis. It's a simple herb. It's nutritional requirements are simple and it will grow in a range of environments, which is why you can use a number of different ratios of feed and still see green plants. That does not mean your plants are in perfect health, nor does it mean you're giving them the right balance of nutrients. It just means you're growing a plant which is forgiving of minor mistakes.

If you feed a balanced veg nutrient at 1.0ec you will see just as good or better rates of growth than you are seeing now. You do not need cal mag at a rate of 50/50. That fact hasn't changed.

Calmag is made from calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate. It is 1/3 nitrogen. It's the nitrogen which is keeping your plants green, and the fact you're only using 2 products, which is really your saving grace in this regard. If you were chopping up more products and additives to make up your ec, in place of your base feed, you'd be in trouble, like everyone else who does.

If you continue to invest in formulas like this and don't take on board the basics of growing a plant with a bottle of plant food, without doubt you will hit problems again in the future.

People make bad techniques work for them. Some get away with it by luck. But unless you get your head round the basics it's only a matter of time before you're scratching your head again.

I know this thread is a little old and the OP has probably (hopefully) made it past the seedling/youngin' stage.

I've had this same problem before with seedlings/immature plants that have an underdeveloped root structure.

The key here is to watch them, see how often they are drinking and to water once the coco on top changes color and looks dried out. Mix up your "young plant mix" for your nutes, do half a turkey baster of just water (I use distilled at the moment) and then do a full turkey baster of the "young plant mix". The distilled will push some salts out, and will help clear any junk that is still in the mix when you potted them.

I know you are thinking you flushed them completely or bought the good stuff so you don't need to waste time on that. Do it anyway!

Hope this helps anyone with this same problem!
