howdy, welcome to my lousy thread. this was a 150 and occasional 250 hps microvert with soil as medium.

1st one with 150w naturally starts right here, in this very post

2nd one with 250w starts here

3rd one with 150w starts here

Hope for the best, expect the worst, and you won't be disappointed.
How tall is the grow space?
I also do a 150w micro vert.
Subbed.

total is 4ft/120cm but available upwards space for plants minus the containers and ventilation gear is bit over 2ft which is good enough. have you started a thread?

Nice grow non. Mind if I pull up a chair? I just jumped up to 150w from cfls and very interested in the outcome of this grow.

No threads, some pics I got. I'll put some up later.

I think the vert can really out perform a horizontal light
in a small area.

What strains are you running? Have you done them before?

okie dokie

in small setups proper scrog is good too imo but i like to fiddle around with vertical. it sure can be very efficient in the right hands.

strain is og#18 which is nothing too original these days, but i like it :) i have sativa plans for later year tho. i have grown one pheno of it before and don't know how much variation is there, but some idea how it grows and performs. something to start the year with.

here's a pollen chuck baby of this strain and a og kush x blue satellite 2.2 stud, made this cross couple years ago and last year popped couple seeds and got one female(pic taken between weeks 5 and 6):

i'd like to explore them more at some point but i'm itching to have some more sativaish strains, one more kushy project after this just to pop seeds that are getting old and make some f2s for the future. if only male comes out of those seeds i'm hoping some female from the recent project would be a fitting companion, but it's all for fun so nothing too serious.

welcome, may this thread be like that dirty corner bar where no decent people go.

i'll take some pics next week, or not, vegging is bit boring and they have been bit slower than usual, i wonder is it me or them.

the little one still needs to pick it up and the others got setback by me overwatering, but they're snapping out of it, looking a bit shitty here and the veg's been slow. but the delay isn't catastrophic.

otherwise its ok, temps fine and the danger zone around bulb is rather narrow.

You are not getting the full benefit of your lamp ATM .
Having your plants below the lamp is robbing you of a high percentage of you light .

Check out the difference in light emitted from the sides of your lamp compared to under it . Even with the naked eye the difference is substantial .

Getting the socket of your lamp holder in line with the tops of your plants will make a big difference .
Contrary to the diagrams in the vert forum the spread of light from a vert hung bulb is not the symmetrical sphere of light they portray .

Thanks for sharin

EB .

hi, thanks for commenting.

my idea was to set the bulb in final position, so when they stretch the tops will be bit over bulb. but i'll lower it, it is wasting light atm.

I tried growing under the lamp and yields and plant health suffered .

Place your hand 30 cm from the side of the lamp .
Then place it 30 cm under the lamp . You will see a big difference .

The plants will grow taller and more robust if they have stronger light during vegg . Adjust , or train your plants to be in the stronger light beam and you will reap more final product .

Thanks for sharin

this got me confused about the bulb placement in veg:

Well Bro.....Rule of thumb with bare bulbs hangin is tip of bulb even with tops of plants till end of stretch , and then top of socket even with tops of plants till end of cycle with the bulb dropped down to penetrate sideways into the canopy...

well maybe i compromise and pick worst of both worlds and place it halfway? i have no idea is this scale-issue and these mini/microgrows should be treated differently?

i think this fits within the topic of this thread, my last vert w/250 from all the way from year 2013(the bulb was removed for the pic):

if you click the pic big you can see what went wrong there, while the colas are nice size there's serious holes in the canopy and i let them fall to the danger zone and some sides got crisped.

i feel that i've gotten my environment to be decent, but there's many things to adjust here and there. canopy management is a issue still, but eventually that will sink in too, hopefully.
for medium i've always digged (recycled)soil and now i'm trying no-till, let's see what pro..challenges arise from that.
