bs exodus cheese cutting,strange happenings!

hi,ive just finished harvesting this and found after about 7 weeks the leaves of about a 1/3(rd) of the plants became droopy and some of them dry! so i tried to rectify this by having the extractor fan on more and leaving the door open more,as i thought the problem was heat (odd how the others werent affected though) so i looked at them closely for a couple of days, nothing was changing so i basically let them get on with it and was left thinking ..."this is weird". at exactly 8 weeks i accidently stumbled into a plant with droopy leaves as i was reaching for a 'normal' one, i discovered the bud was BONE DRY!! too. about 2/3 of the 1/3 were THE SAME!!!. ..haha instant smoke i guess!.has anybody else had any unusual encounters happen?
cheers e. & have a nice day.:tumbleweed: (if your a nice person that is)

I've had that when plants have finished and stopped flowering but Cheese can go ten weeks so it is strange at eight weeks. I've heard of really old cuttings eventually giving up I wonder if thats a first sign? Shantibaba mentions his G13 giving up its will to live.
I also notice the affected plant is right at the end of the tray maybe thats something to do with it.

This has happened to me before. It is a fungal infection called fusarium wilt. The fungus makes its way into the plant through the roots. Once inside, it clogs and blocks the xylem, the tissue that moves water through the plant, preventing water from traveling up the stem and out into the branches, leaves and buds.

You end up with fully dried buds on an otherwise live plant and it spreads branch by branch.

Crazy.

Peace

? This happened using NFT and explained by PRJ "Fusarium wilt"
Not sure root rot has the same effect doubtful I think with that you would see the whole plant was effected before hand maybe this "FW" is a Deadly Silent Assassin

Nice info, Piff.

I've had something like this twice, maybe three times but just at the terminal bud, not throughout the whole plant. Is there a cure for this?

Hi Harry, don't really know if there is a cure as by the time it's noticeable you're probably too late as the fungus is already within the plant tissues.

I've seen it a few times, both up top near the main head and on lower branches, and chopping affected branches only causes it to spread to other branches.

I only grow in soil so don't know about hydro or coco but I imagine it could be devastating in hydro if using NFT etc as it would quickly spread to all plants.

Peace
