Beans popped!

Beans popped!

Well that was quick... threw these seeds in a paper towel just two days ago and they've popped. No luck with BOG's Sweet Cindy yet though

Super baked right now...

Super baked right now...

What's everybody smoking on? My buddy at the club suggested I try this Purple OG they got in and I took his word for it. Looks very similar to Platinum GSC to me. That means that the bag appeal is ridiculously good (as pictured) other than the fact the the nugs are so small, dense, and compact that it looks very decieving. The expansion was great and the high was immediate. Still analyzing it at this point!

Here's yet ANOTHER picture of my first Sour Bubble. Can you tell that she's my favorite? I need her back, but I need the bx3. Buying myself a pack of Sweet and Sour Cindy for my birthday. So that's exciting. I haven't quite figured out how to navigate the seedbay, is the bx3 on there?

And another...

And then some White Russian (white widow x ak47), which I will never grow again. Such a finicky girl. I'll pass.

Getting a bit of cash..

Getting a bit of cash..

I will be getting a decent chunk of money within the next two days and so I'm writing up a final list of supplies for the hardware store and hydro store. Once I've compiled the list I'm going to post it on here to see if you guys have input as to what else to get, and what NOT to get.

Hey, you've gotta do what you've gotta do and you've gotta work with what you've got! Patience is hard but it sure is key, if you ask me. Don't let your eagerness convince you to chop them early! April? Yeah me too, me too.

Yo OldSchool! Looking nice in your new room. Good luck with the pest prevention. I'm excited to see what you get with those Connoisseur Genetics. I've had my eye on a couple of their strains for a bit.

Yo testy! Thanks bud, it will be one of my main goals to keep this place tidy, sterile and in tip top shape. Not going to slack and let it get away from me. Cleaning fans all of the time, dusting, wiping down with h2o2, and spraying with various pest preventatives. I really enjoy your threads, hope we can help each other out over time.

The Cheese n Chaze I don't know much about but there a couple of grows on here documenting it and I'm reasonably excited. You see all the seed packs they've got at Peace In Medicine?!

More pest prevention

Got some Diatomaceous Earth for some more pest prevention. I'm really not trying to deal with bugs.. Anyone use this stuff?

Sounds good dude. You ever hang out at Russian River or Lagunitas?

You see all the seed packs they've got at Peace In Medicine?!
Hell yeah. Some of those Mr. Nice packs are calling me. I can't wait to have some space again where I can flower out Mango Haze, Neville's Haze, and Super Silver Haze.

I actually stopped drinking 4 months ago but I used to go to all of the Lagunitas industry nights (I grew up in Peta). Good music, good beer ("Hop Stoopid" and "Sucks"), good people. I actually grabbed dinner at Russian River a week ago, man, that place is always PACKED!

I hear you about the space, my old set up was pretty small. I feel blessed to have the space I have now.

Mr.Nice.. Mmm, great genetics. I want to pick up a pack of BOG's Sweet and Sour Cindy :dance013:

Perhaps one day we will meet!

...mornin' man, i see you've been keeping busy, lol, and the room looks nice and clean, i wish i had that kind of space to play with.

anyway, i thought maybe i'd suggest to you that you not let pests be such a bummer, your plants evolved to resist and survive them and with a little help from you they are in no danger of being overwhelmed by any of them.

...honestly man, you can spend hours sterilizing your room and still get pests so your best bet is to think of pests as just part of the equation that you have to solve and as such they are no big whoop. ...all can be managed with relative ease.

...personally, i'm a lazy phuck by nature so i keep my shit relatively free of debris, lol, but i don't even try to keep it 'clean' and as messy as my op is i seldom get pests and when i do i KNOW from experience what to do so i am no longer afraid of what they bring to the party.

...the most common pests for you to be aware of are spider mites, aphids and fungus gnats and while each CAN be a real pain, all can be dealt with with relative ease once you fully understand the life cycle of each and what conditions favor them, then you will know all you need to know to handle each of them without a complete emptying of your garden, NONE of them require this severe an action unless you completely ingore an infestation for an extended time.

...anyway, everything looks good bro so hopefully you will soon be swimming in a whole new gene pool and you don't want to go emptying the pool every time you see a few gnats or mites, lol.

peace, bozo

Hey Bozo!
Busy is good! :dance013:

Thanks a LOT for the advice. I guess I am spending a little too much time on pest prevention. It's been a tad stressful. I hear what you're saying and will definitely take it easy. I know the basics about what environments the most common pests thrive in, but I really need to learn some more. Is spraying once a week, alternating between Neem and something a little stronger too much? Or alternating between Neem oil and watering with h202?

Hot and dry = mites , too much humidity = gnats
And I also know that many people mistake root aphids for gnats and it gets bad quick!

No worries about losing my gene pool though, the pest free ladies were taken to a friends spot to back up. I'm looking at it optimistically, I've got room for more genes now. (and my set up is ALMOST spotless)

Thanks for stopping by! Stick around it's going to get interesting.

Supply List

Supply List

Within the next few days:

- 6" Hood (suggestions?)
- Wall mounted oscillating fan
- Flat black paint (for A/C)
- Black caulking (for A/C)
- Green light bulb for lights off spraying
- Guerrilla Tape for light leaks

Shouldn't be more than $200 because I can get pretty good deals on hoods. After this and set up I'll be ready to fire up my first 600 watt table.

For the future

I'm building this room table by table (2 down, 2 to go). I am on a budget so I can't just buy everything at once. I will post a diagram of what my final room should look like, and hopefully I get some good input on my intakes and outtakes. Ultimately I will need...

- (2) 185 CFM fans
- (2) Fan silencers
- (3) Wall fans (including the one from the first list)
- (2) DIY tables (two sawhorses and a piece of plywood per table )
- (2) Carbon filters
- Small c02 tank

Should all be around $550 minus 1 wall fan included in the first list.
So around $480-490.

Ventilation

Ventilation

So I drew up a diagram of what my room will look like in terms of ventilation. If you have any tips, please let me know!

Room total = 920 cubic feet

Intake = 370 cfm
Outtake = 637 cfm

So is the air in my room being replaced at 1,007 cfm? I'm not the best with this stuff. I know I want more exhausting than intake to create negative pressure and keep odors from seeping out. How many cfm's should I be getting in a 920 cubic foot room?

Please ignore the words in the parenthesis, they are incorrect.

picture.php

Sorry for the messy handwriting.

-Old School

Oh man

Oh man

Just had some knowledge dropped on me and had to tweak my equation. Adding to the amount of CFM required.

+ 10% for two air cooled lights
+ 30% for non air cooled lights
+ 20% for carbon filters
= 60% total

So I need to be replacing air at 480 cfm if I want to be replacing the air every 3 minutes.

Hey old school for a table I would recommend the metro shelving, its what I am using if you look at my thread. I think they cost around $100 at costco but they are super versatile, you can make 2 shelves with one or just one tall shelf. All the shelf heights are adjustable and it comes with a set of wheels so one of the shelves can be easily moveable. Plus they are metal so no worries about moisture/mold.

I like what Bozo said about pests. Since you are indoors mostly I think if you are cautious about shoes and coming from outside straight to your grow you won't be bringing anything in. If you watch your plants close as most of us do any pest that does pop up should not be established yet. I am very paranoid about pests to but there is a point when you are spending more effort than you gain. Be careful and cautious pay a lot of attention to plants, don't worry about spraying all the time.
