Triple-Stacked Vertical Bare Bulb

I was wondering instead of expanding from 1,200 watts to 2,000 watts in a vertical donut (to make the donut bigger mainly for bigger yields using same # of plants and longer veg times) - the main criteria was no cooltubes or obstructing hangers/fixtures and for the plants to get as much direct light as possible.

Also wanted about 15-20% blue (I wonder how much % in blue a newer "blue enhanced" hps bulb puts out) so a 3rd bulb could be geared to that blue spectrum (like MH or induction, even ceramic light). Since it's a triple stacked bulb donut, you can have 6-7 foot tall plants with 600 watt lights and a huge canopy for getting buds.

Not only taller, but wider plants too as the donut using the 50 watts/sq ft rule could now be 36 sq ft instead of 24 or 50% bigger area.

Here's the diagram, my main idea (I've seen before used somewhere) is for hanging the middle bulb in a triple stacked donut:

i've ran 3-bulb vert rooms and so have others on here... not hard to hang the bulbs . check some old threads for ideas.

somebody here on IC had the best method for stacking 3 bulbs.... 2 cables about 6 inches apart, going from floor to ceiling, and the bulbs attached inbetween the cables with eye screws. i forget which thread it was. do some digging.

Thanks Shcrews. I thought of this instead of going with a DIY vertical light mover and I knew adding a light was better yield wise just as with horizontal movers vs adding another light. Also all 3 lights are independently adjustable.

well i did the digging for you... here's some pictures from ICmag showing what i'm talking about

and here's the thread pics of dual stacked 1500w bulbs
Thanks Shcrews - looks like they are also independently adjustable. Instead of KISS I might just say "Simply elegant!". The wire looks thin enough not to block much light at all and don't think it had heat issues (and poster was using 1,500 watt lights). I wonder if you hung the 2 main vertical wires further apart and have the lights on an adjustable tightrope wire. This would assure no direct light is being blocked in the donut.

growclean mentioned using wing nuts (modded from labtec's design) and also suggested "clothes line tensioners" from Walmart.

Thanks Shcrews, I like growclean's idea better when used with my idea for hanging the middle light - no vertical rigging to interfere with light and the horizontal "tightrope" the light hangs on is also not on direct path of bulb's light to plants. IOW just move vertical rigging in growclean's idea further apart so it won't heat up or block any light. :dance013:

honestly bro the shadow from a 1/8" cable is negligible. i think the 1kw hps filament is bigger diameter. but yah if you want to rig up something extra for the middle bulb then go for it. nothing wrong with being thorough

Can't argue with growclean's design. If I were to use a clothes line though with the tensioner I'd mount the 2 main vertical lines further apart light on a simple 1/2" galvanized pipe or ss conduit.

This is a clothes line tensioner:

The clothes line tensioner takes up or adds slack to the line:

I still like the SunGrip/ProGrip:

I have my HD air filter on those Progrips, they can hold up to 150 lbs each with the 1/4" rope model. Or I can just get 3 cheaper 1/8" Sungrips and run each light that way each on it's own hanger/bar. I'll call it the Light Mobile.

Stoner ingenuity at it`s finest.....Nice job of stirrin shit till the cream rises to the top guys...

I used jack chain and turnbuckles with all my triple stacked setups SF , and Bobbles used the 1/8" stainless steel cables for his lights , as well as Mr D I`m pretty sure , but as always and forever...there`s....

Many ways ta skin a mule.....Start a thread down here in Vert-ville when yas get shit figured out and done Bro......

Arminius uses 2 stacked 600`s for his taller plant V-scrog donuts and does well , so thoughts to ponder....anyways....

Peace....DHF.....:ying:.....

This is a 1000 watt over a 600 watt. I got 4 pounds from it.

It is a 8 foot ceiling. The plant in the back left side was a one pound Deathstar. The one in the front was only 9 ounces and was OG Kush.

Don't limit yourself to just one size bulb you could run both the six and 1K.

Looks great! Do you have a thread going? I love that style. Some what like Heath, except not so complex.

Real nice IC! :tiphat: I favor the tripod and just hanging the top bulb on a hook (adjust slack w/rubber band for now) like you have it IC, no light blockage or interference problems.

For adding that middle light like DHF says there more than 1 way to bake a cake or brew green tea - using jack chain and turnbuckles sounds good too.

If you pinch the hook slightly you can pop the cord in and out to adjust your height. No rubber band to degrade from the heat and light from your bulbs.

Be careful not to pinch the hook to hard because it makes it real difficult to pull the cord back out of the hook.

I do 4 bulbs (2 600w hps and 2 400w CMH, alternating to blend spectrum) stacked, and hung from stainless steel cable.

Here's a pic. It's sideways, so turn your head :moon:
